I have spent hours trying to figure out how to set up and save the controller settings, with absolutely NO LUCK!!! I have set up the pertinent controls in the Saitek X-55 Profiler, and then went and meticulously set up everything in the controller set-up for my X-55 and the A-10C.

THOUGHT I had saved the controller settings. Quit and took a break. Came back, started the program again, opened the controller, and NOTHING has been saved. I even tried re-loading the configuration I had saved, and it does nothing. I am at wits end.

Can anyone explain to me how to successfully SAVE the configuration for each A/C? Select A-10C, select All, program the axes, switches and buttons, get everything the way I want, and...

I can't keep re-programming this stuff every time I open DCS. It's ridiculous. What's the secret to keeping all of my settings? HELP!

Update: I had to disable the Saitek Profiler and clear out every controller completely, but it seems to have worked (fingers crossed). I don't know how to get the Profiler and the controller set-up to work together, so for now, no Profiler. I have been told that when I click on OK after setting up the controller, it auto-saves the settings. Is that correct?

However, now I'm getting a message every time I start DCS that I have to re-enter my registration code for the A-10C. When I click on OK, it tells me I've already registered, and asks if I want to proceed without it. When I say "Yes" everything loads normally. And yes, I have run the repair.

Just a thought, you do know that you have to select each individual controller and save that profile?

I.E. If you have a separate Stick and throttle, you have to select each in turn by clicking somewhere on the entry screen for that controller, then click on save profile, giving each one a unique name. Just hitting OK does not save the profile AFAIK.

Also, be aware of where you are saving and loading the profiles. I suggest that it might be best to save and load them from your user/Saved Games/DCS/Config/Input/ACName folder, so that you can be sure that they are safe from any DCS updates or re-installs.

I don't use any profiler software for DCS now, but when I used the MadKatz app for my old X52 Pro, there were no problems getting it to work in DCS.

So since I have 4 controllers listed (X-55 stick, throttle, rudder, and a CH throttle quadrant) I have to save each one separately, and then load them one at a time each time I run the program? What happens when I set everything up and then say OK? Is all that work lost next time I load the A-10? And do you load like you save - click on a controller column and then say "Load profile"?

I dumped the Saitek Profiler - it was causing more problems than it solved. Never used it with my FSX stuff, anyway.

As for my last question - do you have any idea why I am being asked to re-register my A-10 every time I load DCS World? When the box comes up, the registration number is already there, and when I click on OK, it tells me I'm already registered, and do I want to continue without re-registering. I click Yes and everything loads fine.

Yes. Each column on the controls page should be saved to a separate file. If you look at what is automatically saved there by DCS before you start, you will see that there is one for each.

Some controllers bundle Throttle and stick into one device. Saitek Profiler (Possibly) and TM Warthog (when using Target software), in which case you will only see device for them in the setup page.

You have separate controllers listed, so them and everything else, including Rudder pedals, Mouse & Head tracker etc. will need to be saved as separate files. One for each. I advise making new files rather than overwriting the default ones. Just give them an obvious name, and make sure you put them in the correct aircraft folder. Sometimes it opens in the last place you looked, and might be the wrong aircraft.

To Save: Select something in the appropriate column so that it is highlighted (as if you were going to set up a control) then save profile as...

To load: As before, select the appropriate column and Load correct profile.

By default, stick, mouse, keyboard etc have separate folders, although Im not sure it matters where you actually save them. I save everything in my User/Saved Games folder to stop updates wiping them.

Once everything looks good you can click on OK and quit: settings should be saved. If they are not, then go to to the folder where you saved them and make sure that you have rights to save there, the file isn't write protected etc, and check file date/time to see if it matches what you epect.

You shouldn't have to load them every time, just once. Maybe again after a major update to DCS

As for re-registration, it is something that pops up occasionally, but not every time. I sometimes get it after an update, but just clicking OK the same as you does no harm. It does sound as if there is a problem with your install though. If it gets too much, you can try running Repair from your windows Start Menu under DCS or reinstall.

Thanks for the reply. I have already taken care of the save advice. Now I have to figure out how to control my TrackIR. I have found that when you change everything and click OK, it does save everything all at once - I quit and went back to find that everything was still set up the way I had done it.

The re-registration thing hasn't come up the last 2 times I started the app. I'll take your advice on that one, too.

Actually, having just checked, you are right. DCS does indeed save all the control files when you hit OK... but to the default files that have the long ID number after them, NOT to the individually saved (in my case - shorter) filenames. This is a bit annoying IMO. I want the defult files left alone, and my versions to be saved. Ah well...

I can't help with TrackIR. I Use FreeTrack, and any changes I make to that are done in the FreeTrack app itself. I just ignore the settings in DCS

One problem I am having is in DCS world 2 Nevada, taking off in that mission they have set up. As I attempt to depart from the runway, my F15C continues to gently move to the left and want to drift off the runway to crash or do damage to the aircraft! I spent hours trying to program controls or remove keyboard commands and assign rudder... I even removed the rudders and the jet still wants to drift left. I only did one successful take off and that was because I held the rudders very carefully to keep it from drifting left.

Is this supposed to be a tail drag effect? I have a new machine and I have settings all completely maxed out! Looks really cool! All sorts of trucks n cars moving. Maybe if I create my own mission and take off it will not act this way.. "?"

Anybody know what this is or why my jet wants to drift on the runway either way landing or taking off?

It's in the DCS world 2 Nevada/ missions/ F15C/ taking off from runway practice.

Rudder Problems - Saitek!!

Well a day later here and I figured out my problem. My rudder pedals breaks are functioning backwards! If I press the breaks down on the Saitek Fighter Jet rudder pedals , it releases the breaks! Then when I take my foot off it activates the breaks! So while I applied the throttle for take off my breaks were actually on causing my jet to veer off course! Even when I disconnected the Saitek unit it still must of been structured in a way in control settings to continue to veer off! Now I press the brakes down and I go straight! Let my feet off and wheel breaks apply! I need to order a set of MFG Crosswinds!

In the Options>Controls screen, select one of your brake axis (so it highlights), then click the Axis Tune button near the bottom of the window. On the new screen, click the Invert Axis check box. Repeat for the other brake axis. Then click OK at the bottom of the screen.

Try it now. :)
