LeCuvier Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 I hate this permanent dust speck on the Bf-109's windshield (and on the left pane). With the generally poor visibility of other aircraft beyond 1 km I don't need additional visibility impairments. I have found the cockpit texture .dds files under C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Bf-109K-4\Cockpit\Textures. But I have not found a file in there that represents the windshield or any of the other plexiglass panes. I'd be grateful if somebody could point me to the right file! golani79 Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 (edited) Take a look at this: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/de/files/1191557/ It can be though that the location of the file has changed - so you have to check that. Edited July 8, 2016 by golani79 >> DCS liveries by golani79 <<
LeCuvier Posted July 8, 2016 Author Posted July 8, 2016 Thanks Golani, very helpful! Yet I would still like to understand the process for making this change. I did open the original bf109cpt_glass.dds in Photoshop, but it does not look like something worth editing due to the strange proportions and sky with clouds in the background. As if there were a background layer. Now the modified file from snowsniper looks even worse and I cannot figure out what these guys did and how. rel4y Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Thanks for the dl, sadly for me this still doesnt remove all the dirt. There is a big smudge on the lower left windshield for example which really is somewhat annoying! :( Cougar, CH and Saitek PnP hall sensor kits + shift registers: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=220916 Shapeways store for DIY flight simming equipment and repair: https://www.shapeways.com/shops/rel4y-diy-joystick-flight-simming
LeCuvier Posted July 9, 2016 Author Posted July 9, 2016 Merci snowsniper c'est très sympa! Yes the smudge in the bottom-left part of the windshield is still there. I opened the .dds file in Photoshopand zoomed in real deep; but the smudge is not visible there. I don't know whether the .dds format contains any magic so maybe I did not open the file with the right options. Unfortunately I disabled the options for opening the .DDS file and I cannot get them back. I would really like how to handle this and help myself. The windshield is nice and clean! Now there is just one smudge an the left window (upper right) and one on the right window (lower central). :D But I am also happy as is! LeCuvier Posted July 13, 2016 Author Posted July 13, 2016 Well done, snowsniper! Thanks snowsniper this is a real improvement! Could you post a little note describing how to do this in Photoshop? I never managed to even see the smudges in the .dds files, no matter how much I zoomed. There must be some little secret. boedha68 Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 :) Yep, when you open the .dds file in photoshop, you can turn the layer on or off and save it back. Yep, it's just a layer..... That's the trick. :smartass: Newest system: AMD 9800X3d, Kingsting 128 GBDDR5, MSI RTX 5090(ready for buying), Corsair 150 Pro, 3xSamsung 970 Pro, Logitech X-56 HOTAS, Pimax Crystal Light (Super is purchased) ASUS 1200 Watt.
