Hello guys.

Tried to search for this problem but didn't find anything useful.

I use 1.5 version and when I look straight a head even before I start the game I have 90fps. But when I turn to the left I get 45fps. In 2.0 version I get a more constant 45-50 depending on settings.

I know since I have read that dcs is not optimized properly but this is ridiculous.

Win 10 16Gb, ssd, 2600k@4.6ghz, gtx1080 + oculus rift, cv1.

Shouldn't my computer perform better than this??

Think your a bit low on the CPU side mate..

no problem here, I actually envy you on that performance (I can only get 45-30 fps on my rig - GTSX970 w/2600K@4.2)

VR headsets use Vsync like frame capping to prevent nausea induced by wrongly timed frames.

so even if your system can display 80fps, you will still be cut down to 45.

as long as you are above 45fps at all times the game feels OK (you can see that, but it's tolerable). Going down to 30 will cause you disorientation.

you can try disabling HT on the CPU and see if that helps a bit. games do not utilize multicore processors as efficiently because they only use 1-3 threads, when one of them is the "heavy lifter" the the others are small. in my case, I believe that disabling HT gives me ~15%, but it could be just an illusion :) 0 risk, worth the try.

Mm what do you mean? 63% cpu load. I think that speaks for itself, right?

4.6gHz, I wouldn't call it on the low side :)

Mm I don't understand what you mean in the first part.

Did you look at the picture? I have 90fps so you are mistaken. Secondly if Vsync would be on it would do 90FPS since that is the Hz of the rift.

I'll try the HT thing but as the pic also shows is that I am no way near 100% cpu load. So not sure it will do much.

Thanks

the cpu outread you get, I belive its for all cores, and as so a reading displaying your cpu as a unit. DCS only uses 2 cores.... 1 for sound, and 1 for the rest... My gues is, that the single core runing DCS on your mashine runs on max...

When you turn your head, the rendring drops, and hench it drops below 90 FPS, Oculus Home App adjuts your FPS to 45 yo avoid Jitter, thats why you see a drop....

No it's the main core for DCS . I learned from my mistake. I just put cpu before and got 20% :)

So this should be the real deal.

Mm I really don't understand this at all so please elaborate.

When I turn to the right it doesn't happen. Also, why would the rendering drop? I mean it should be easier for the card since I am not looking at all the gauges. I would understand if it would be the other way around.

Thanks

This has always been noticeable for me. Pre and post VR.

I could sit at Batumi and have over 100fps with my 4670k @ 4.5 and a GTX980Ti and then look north an immediately have a huge FPS drop... Down to 40-50.

It's all to do with the rendered object count if my understanding is correct and is (and probably always will be) a problem with the game engine. I'm not entirely sure how, why or if that is accurate but it's what I have picked up from similar topics.

With my Rift on I generally get about 40-50, occasionally when away from large towns I'll see 90: in heavily populated servers it can become a bit juddery and unplayable. Luckily I don't get sick from it but I'm sure it is very vomit inducing for some.

As for your CPU - you say 4.6Ghz is 'not on the low side' but there is quite a bit more to a CPU than pure clock speed. I'm sure you would see improvements if you came up to a current gen system.

Jumping in here last week recorded with fps displayed at DCS rate of 40 to 50 at airfield and 80 to 90 in the air pretty much the same on shadow play, this week update and same mission fps down to 16 how did that happen something somewhere is sucking up frame rates either within my system or DCS slightly concerned as i have a rift turning up monday 2.0 is just fine 50 to 60 around Nevada and 80 to 100 elsewhere.

Tir fair enough i can live with that change but fps hit is massive, so in short if op's cpu is allegedly falling short whats the problem with mine typo in sig ram should read 32gb apart from that thought i was pretty safe with my setup.

Eagles may soar high but weasel's don't get sucked into jet engines.
