Andy1966 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Hello All, How do I enable German Aircraft tail markings (swastika)? I saw a thread about it but cant find it now :helpsmilie: Thank you p.s. thanks for answering all of my noobish questions We are Virtual Pilots, a growing International Squad of pilots, we fly Allies in WWII and Red Force in Korea and Modern combat. NeilWillis Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 When you download skins for the German aircraft, they'll usually have 2 folders contained within the skin files. Inside those are alternative description luas, one for a swastika, and one for without. Just copy the enclosed lua, and overwrite the one at the level of all the rest of the files, and you will get the right insignia. 1

Does this apply to flying Instant Missions, and all of the others, or just Multiplayer? I have heard that you must get permission to use non-default liveries in Multiplayer, Is that true? If so, who gives the permission? firmek Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 One point that you should consider is that this symbol is illegal in many countries. F/A-18, F-16, F-14, M-2000C, A-10C, AV-8B, AJS-37 Viggen, F-5E-3, F-86F, MiG-21bis, MiG-15bis, L-39 Albatros, C-101 Aviojet, P-51D, Spitfire LF Mk. IX, Bf 109 4-K, UH-1H, Mi-8, Ka-50, NTTR, Normandy, Persian Gulf... and not enough time to fully enjoy it all
Shahdoh Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Not sure about permission, but the skins are mostly controlled by the missions themselves. There is a way to change a skin from what its is to what you want it to be. Only you will see the change, everyone else will see it normally. Problem with custom skins on MP servers is everyone needs to have it in order to see it. Doesnt stop us from using them on the Virtual Aerobatics server though. We have many great skins on there and if the people connecting are interested, they can install them and see them. If not, they see a default skin.
TWC_SLAG Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Is it possible to add just the swastika to default skins? LcSummers Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Is it possible to add just the swastika to default skins? Yes its possible for both ac, K-4 and D-9.
zaelu Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 yes. at this address: \CoreMods\WWII Units\Textures\Bf-109K-4 you need to have a file called bf-109k-4_cross.dds that is not empty or "edited" and then you will see the historic markings. You need to search for such a mod somewhere in the forum. Could you be more specific about the "such a mod" part? Please excuse my noobness. zaelu Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Hi, thanks. It is my town from just over 2 years but I feel like at home. It used to be a mod around that did just that, replaced the texture of normal censored symbol with the historical one. Here is one example: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2718270&postcount=3 He put the texture in each skin folder and modified also the description.lua file but you can also put that texture one time in the folder: \DCS World\CoreMods\WWII Units\Bf-109K-4\Textures\Bf-109K-4 and all default skins should have historical markings. The red folder needs to be created as you only have an archive there and is better not to modify it. The folder just gets loaded after the archive and the file in it will prevail against the one in the archive. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
TWC_SLAG Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Zaelu, This was exactly what I needed. As soon as I went to the link and saw "JSGME", I knew I was in the right place. The two mods work perfectly.
