You're in for an awesome time dude! Make sure you've got any required port adapters. I had to wait another 48 hours for a 4k compatible mini display port to hdmi adapter before I was up and running.

If your 980 has two HDMI ports, or your monitor has a display port then you should be fine.. For some reason many of the new gpu's come with 3 Display Ports, and only one HDMI port. I had to buy a Display Port to HDMI adapter, as my monitor and Rift both required an HDMI port.

Same. If you get an adapter then make sure that you use that to the monitor, not the Rift. At least in my case, the Rift did not like it.

If you're going to use an adapter, it has to be specifically 4k compatible otherwise you'll get no signal.

I wouldn't use the adapter for the rift. Use the adapter for your monitor and use the native hdmi port on the video card for the rift.

My problem was that native HDMI didn't work. It just stopped working after about a week. So I got the 4K capable HDMI to DP adapter and it worked like a charm. Annoying, but it's the price you pay for being an early adopter (which I'm happy to do)

Ah, I guess it's beyond time to RMA your video card at this point. Glad it works for you.

Honestly, I didn't even check. Simple adapter fixed it, and I'm sure I'll upgrade soon enough so why bother! :)

Ordered one today, they sent me an email saying it's shipping tomorrow - 1 day service in Canada, crazy. 914$ total, incl tax+shipping/etc.

I've been stressing out about cancelling my Rift and going with the Vive after a lot of reading and questions here, so just decided screw it, no reason not to have both, not like they are going anywhere or that there isn't going to be PILES of stuff to use both units for (Elite Dangerous I really want to play too, and apparently ED + Vive = Poop...nice equation huh, I'm a math major!).

Great resource this forum is, for a lot of different things.
