Quick question: how do you activate the catapult on a carrier launch? i did a quick search but didn't see my question answered anywhere. i launched my su-33 and almost fell into the ocean. but i watched my wingman launch and he was definitely whipped out with a sweet catapult.

thanks!

No catapult on the SU33 takeoff. The carrier uses a ramp instead of a catapult system and relies on the low stall speed of the planes to be able to take off.

I've never tried it. You'll have to make Russia and the U.S. the same side in the mission editor first.

That won't work in the Reality because the Su-33 don't has the little stick (I don't know how it is called) mounted on the front landing gear to be catapulted.

How it works in DCS on an american aircraft carrier I don't know.

That would be the Catapult Shuttle Launch Bar..

Su-33 Uses Gear Blocks to Hold the Aircraft in place until you reach optimal RPM and Thrust to Release, then uses the Ramp to launch the aircraft just above stall speed, once pilot cleans up the airframe, aircraft accelerates away.

Will not work, Su-33 Config is set to Carrier with Ramp, it will not use the Catapult.

thanks for the reply! that cleared it up. i think i was loading down my bird too much for a carrier takeoff.

one last question: once you perform a successful landing, is there a way to maneuver back to the takeoff position, put the blast pad up, and do it all again?

i usually just put USAF Aggressors in one of the sides if i want to mix and match, as they have access to every unit
