Hey Gents,

Since we all share the same love for aviation, thought you might enjoy a few photos from one of our local museums here in Texas. Took a day trip with my wife to enjoy the history. The vast majority of these aircraft fly. If you have the money, you can ride in them as well, that includes the P-51, Skyraider, B-25, C-47 ect.... They have an F-86 as well. Some others too that were not on display. The B-24 and B-29 are at another hangar in Fort Worth. Photos of those soon. I could only upload 20 photos. I will post another thread in future if you guys are interested.

Have been lurking on the forum for a while after getting into DCS but never registered... CFM is an excellent facility, I volunteer at that museum, doing tours, working on building the library, and also marshalling, pushing & pulling aircraft.

Let me know if anyone ever would like a private tour, I usually work Saturdays.

CFM has some excellent projects in the south hangar undergoing work for restoration, includuing:

He-111 (RR Merlin engines)

PT-17 Stearman (pre-electrical system model)

T-34 Tank

P-47D

AC-26 Invader/Marauder (hvy ground attack version)

I highly recommend rides in the Bell 47 chopper (very cheap) and I've been up in the stearman, which is really great (open air!). I'm a student pilot finishing up my taildragger training in Piper Cubs locally... maybe one day I'll get to try my hand at my grandfather's beloved AD-5 Spad (dreaming!)

Nice pics. Was there last year will be there in two weeks. Two years ago tried to get a ride in a Mustang but the Mustang had trouble flying to Cavanaugh. It was grounded.

A DCS meet @ CFM would be AWESOME. Let me know and I'll talk to the events coordinator to set it up, like I said I'm there on Saturdays as I have a day job, but I'm local in Plano so, PM me if you guys would like to set it up, we can start a thread and get the ball rolling. We host all kinds of events at CFM, pretty frequently catered.

Hangar 1 has plenty of Rise of Flight planes in it (LoL) but we usually do events in 3 or 4 as there's more room. I'm working on building the library which is attached to the canteen in hangar two, which has air conditioning and comfy chairs (yay), we also have a conference room with a dryboard, TV for presentations, coffee makers... the usual!

We can setup and do an even in a hangar with folding chairs etc but its pretty warm (95ºF right now on the ramp) outside these days :)
