Small suggestion;

 

Would it be possible to have the option to load the "VR VIEW" only once we load a mission?

In other words, when we are in the game menu (main menu, options, mission selector...) to be in Monitor View.

Once we select a mission and load it, the screen switch to the VR Headset and then, we can put the headset on.

 

Thought/Suggestion.

The first implementation of VR in DCS was like that. The mirror screen is insufficient. Keep all of the menu interaction on the screen and open the VR device when the session begins. This is how AC does it, and it makes sense.

The first implementation of VR in DCS was like that. The mirror screen is insufficient. Keep all of the menu interaction on the screen and open the VR device when the session begins. This is how AC does it, and it makes sense.

 

I know this was mentioned somewhere in the Oculus section but it is good to get a separate thread here for visibility. IHMO, this is a fairly important and, possibly, even relatively easy thing to do.

In theory it's actually this way already.

you have a mirror of the left eye onto your main display. I actually use it quite a lot for menu work, just lay they headset on a table, recenter it and work off the screen.

 

Do you realise how small that window is on a 4k display? Glad it works for you but it would be annoying, at minimum, in the menu, and impossible in the ME.

This won't happen as it would mean ED having to separate the executable for GUI and sim and go back the way it was before.

Has anyone come up with a way to have different configs for different missions? There's some sort of software for FSX that allows you to launch FSX with different setups, I think this would be handy for altering graphic settings for different missions etc

Since what Kuky says is the way it is, possible a stand alone mission editor is what would be a better solution. I highly doubt this will happen, though.

Unified exe is what merged the GUI and in game render, and ED are not going to go back to split executable again.

They don't necessarily need to do that, just render different content to each screen. Monitor gets standard 2D view, VR gets VR view. Project cars has this implemented perfectly and it works really well.

In theory, this shouldn't be much harder to do than the way we used to do things with view ports in the Monitor config lua files, for those of us that used to use multiple monitors with DCS. After all, the left and right eyes of the rift are just monitors, albeit with unique properties...

 

Theory being that you get the standard stereo output option, and add another view port making that the default for the UI...

 

I tried (very briefly) doing exactly that with the monitor config files, but I think the Rift detection circumvents these configurations.
