In the LUA file it says

Mach_max = 2.2,

but sources on the internet reveal that missile top speed was around mach 2.8. Please adjust.

Also what does the "H_min_t" stand for? Maximum time to reach max. altitude?

Other sources "on the internet" vary from 1.75, over 2.0 to 2.8 Mach in one article?!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2K12_Kub

GRAU designation | Kub | Kub-M1 | Kub-M3 | Kub-M4 (Buk-M1)

Introduced | 1967 | 1973 | 1976 | 1978

Missile speed (Mach) | 1.75 | 1.75 | 2 | 2

and in the Overview it says: Speed Mach 2.8

...internet rarely qualifies as a reliable source, when it comes to military specifications. :smilewink:

Just think about it. It is RAMJET technology, so a great deal ABOVE Mach 2.2. (And the DCS Kub is the latest version obviously)

It's just ramjet technology. It's neither the first nor the last ramjet powered weapon, and there have been other ramjet powered missiles which cruised at approximately that speed.

"cruised" for how many seconds though? The Kub in DCS only seems to be cruising for several seconds, not as long as a ramjet (which is a very fuel saving propulsion method) would really cruise. What is that value set to in missiles Lua? After all the 600kg missile has a huge amount of fuel.

A simple question, do you own any flight performance charts, official military documents, flight test recordings or maybe a reliable independent source of information backing your demand?

If yes, we will be happy and hungry to study them.

If not, you are simply bitching around supported by some guesses of the "free for all" encyclopedia

It probably doesn't matter how many seconds it cruises.

What matters is real life performance, not some random numbers from the internet.

You can start learning about ramjets in practice here:

Maybe DCS simply models the 1978 version that according to “sources on the internet“ reaches a speed of 2 Mach ?

So, actually 2.2 Mach is a bit overpowered? ;)
