56K , yeah I know ... :(

I connect my ping is fine (for me ;))and after a bit I get big game freezes and my ping jumps up in the 1000 range , it slowly comes down till the next freeze that takes it up again...

I tried connecting at all settings , 33K , 56K, 128K

tested with 2 different 56K modems

my FPS is fine so it doesn't feel like it's related to game lag .

fresh XP pro install , fresh game install

I'd appreciate any tips , I miss flying sooo much

I also have a less serious graphic issue with water on MED , always see flickering glitches in it (haze off) this happens with all ATI drivers I tried .

S!!

I started playing LOMAC with 56K, and it never works too well with more than 8 players, sometimes it crashed on me. Im afraid you have to swich the connection. ADSL connex are pretty much the standard today and youll find out that it could even be cheaper than using the phone line, speaking of wich, its blocked with dial modems while your surfing and you may miss important calls.

If you have rented 2 phone numbers, one for the net, thats one more reason to swap to ADSL. Its cheaper and anything above 512K will do for everything you could ever want. Here for 20€ a month you get 2Mbit, I used to spend 2-4 times as that with 56K net calls.

And better even, you can stay connected 24 hours a day without extra charges. :)

Well worth the investiment. If you have to deal with the family first, let them know about the economy and the technical advantages.

ADSL only requires one phone plug, just as the one you have now, a filter into that plug and the modem. Config is pretty much a no brainer. If you choose a modem that connect to your onboard MOBO nework plug the better (ethernet). Avoid USB interfaces.

Initial equipemt investiment over here does not pass the 25€ mark unless you want to go wireless wich is optional.

Man that sucks Ryke. I would probably move if I couldnt get some high speed access. Now when I travel for work and have to use a dialup my mood quickly deteriorates to psychosis. Web pages these days are more and more geared up to expect users have broadband, so it must be getting even worse to be on 56k.

What about syncronous Satellite?

That won't change for a loooong time.

Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D

I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

Donations are key, bro. Sell a testicle, they fetch 50g's on the open market, especially for anthrax testing.

Ryke,

Trial by error, You might try with turning off error correction. I recall dialup connection MP games in the past, that required this to be turned off for better play. You might also try different Init strings. Might try Disabling some features like V92 and V90. Heres a good link for you that I use at work.

Hope this helps,

cheers

PS: I hope you have a least a good hardware modem, no cheap :censored:"nato dragon" modem thats worth like 5$ lol
