DieHard Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Introducing myself to Operation:BlueFlag on the BuddySpike.net server in MP on 1.5 There are no preset WP to kill zones using this server. I found the Gadget real time online map. How do I convert mouse overlay MGRS grid coordinates to latitude / longitude input to the PVI 800 for Ka-50? Looking for any info or tutes. Will be adding the DCS: SimpleRadio once I figure out the install process. Thanks [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Tho I havent done it in like a year I do remember that this aint that simple as the coordinates to be entered have different digits behind comma or something like that. There was/is one coordinate (2nd one to enter into PVI ) that is shorter in digits or similar...its in the forum how you can do this. Sitting in train... cant redo it in the Ka now You are only able to input the first five digits of each coordinate into PVI. 044,57.28 from ABRIS you would have to round "28" to 3 for the last digit. Make sure to press "0/+" before coordinates for Russia. BSS_Sniper Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 There are some nice, to the point videos on youtube that show how to do this if you do a quick search. I9 9900k @ 5ghz water cooled, 32gb ram, GTX 2080ti, 1tb M.2, 2tb hdd, 1000 watt psu TrackIR 5, TM Warthog Stick and Throttle, CH Pedals

Reaper6 you definitely cannot input MGRS into the ABRIS, which is what the OP was asking how to get around. To answer OP: it is possible to set the F10 map to display UTM coordinates instead of MGRS. On the F10 map, at the top, you can select which grid is displayed, and the options screen allows you to pick which units are used.

The ABRIS WILL show you MGRS btw. DieHard Posted August 10, 2016 Author Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) Use your ABRIS, that's what its there for. Change settings to decimal and you can input straight to PVI. Reaper6 Yep, I got to get deeper into using the ABRIS. My 2009 hardcopy Ka-50 flight manual I found using Amazon, the ABRIS tutorial, Chapter 7 is 116 pages. Found this YouTube video 2-parter : [ame] [/ame] At least getting better at cross-country navigation. Went from BuddySpike's gadget real-time map and the MGRS overlay converting to Lat\Long input in PVI-800 and flew 117 clicks to the enemy's FARP, dead-on, no problem. Thanks to all-you-alls for the helpful suggestions. Edited August 10, 2016 by DieHard [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

That's a new one by me, never would have occurred to me that a Russian nav system could accept US-military map coordinates. Live an learn.

Live an learn. You cannot input MGRS into ABRIS. But you can change the map to show MGRS. Enduro14 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Reaper how do you do this? Change on Abris? Intel 8700k @5ghz, 32gb ram, 1080ti, Rift S
Gizzy Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 In DCS settings, set to Lat Long Decimal OR if you prefer to have a different default then you can in the DCS F10 map, use 'ALT + S' which will rotate through all available formats of the displayed mouse pointer. Move your mouse a little to see the change each time you hit 'ALT + S'. End up with Lat Long Decimal. As well as normal methods of putting markers and waypoints into the Abris map you can also place a marker directly in from a lat long dec position, say taken from your F10 map using the mouse pointer. Take a note of the position(s), punch it (them) into the PVI800 as a NAV/TGT point. Go to operational mode, select NAV/TGT and the number, say 1, and that will now show on your ABRIS. If you had another on 2, that will not show until you select 2..... The ABRIS will only show 1 NAV/TGT point at a time.

Try the free version, but you cant store maps with that.
