Its been a while since I noticed this "issue" but I havent read anything about "fixing"/improving the color banding thing.

Its not only a cosmetic issue, but a gameplay afecting one as I can barely see the terrain details due to the banding effect when the light is sparce and the flickering lines are extremely distracting. Also, the sky looks really bad with all those banding bars there and makes the world to feel really unatural.

As you can see in the images, the game actually looks like that (no compressions fault) so its quite serious banding problem here.

I have tried using de-band filters, but the downside is that it pretty much kills texture detail and cant completelly get rid of those bands so not a real solution for this...

Many thanks!!

EDIT: Be sure you have a correct gamma configured in your monitor btw...

Yes we do.

See it that way: We have already read and seen on screenshots that there will be a new lighting system soon. We don't know exactly about all its features, but I'll go out on a limb here and say this is probably fixed already in the internal builds, and we will have it in 2.5 so they won't backport this into 1.5.4 because it isn't worth it.

So basically what I am saying is: Wait until 2.5, and complain again if it looks bad then. :)

What is you monitor watermanpc? Pretty much is a monitor issue. I see your bandings because I have a crappy/old one but my guessing is that someone wit a brand new ISPS bling bling monitor will not see it.

Then I'll keep my monitor a few more years :)

Yes, its NOT a monitor issue (although a correctly calibrated gamma monitor can make the issue even more vidsible).

Btw, I own a 29UM58 brand new 21:9 IPS correctly calibrated monitor so not the issue...as I said, using a deband filter helps a lot, but I can see some texture quality loss by using it.

I hope It is okay to bump this thread with additional comments regarding the banding issue.

In VR at night it is so bad it is pretty much an environmental immersion killer. I really hope that dithering is added or being considered for adding to help address this issue. As bad as it is for those using 2d monitors, in the Rift and Vive it is x amount of times worse. I love the NTTR map and wish I could not see literally huge distinct bands of color around mountains and cities while flying at night. I stopped as it was so bad.

Please ED, address this issue or explain why it cannot be addressed. Most are adults here. We can take the truth :)

No one care about this?? :noexpression:

Hi of course we care about this!

On my 30"" monitor Eizo @ 2560 x 1600 is noticeable, and annoying,

but sometimes I (seldom) play it on my LG OLED TV 65"" 4K and there it gets really ugly.
