Hi,

I have access to a friends remote server which he has put together for the sole purpose of hosting DCS MP missions. We have a squadron of players who enjoy variation of mission types. So we would like to host the following missions types;

1. close formation flying (immortal in case of lag)

2. guns only team combat

3. coop helicopters and post cold war vs tactical CA commander

4. pre-cold war

5. racing

Because the host is not always available, we decided to build missions with triggered events to cause mission switching.

I have tried to add radio triggers to change the missions, but it appears that adding more than 3 radio items crashes DCS.

Is there another way to allow clients to change missions?

Kindest regards

Andy

Put Slmod on the server and make your pals admins.

Thanks for your response. Just to satisfy my curiosity, is using a mod the only solution?

To change it via chat commands yes. However if you trust certain users an external program that allows remote access to the PC is also an option. Programs like teamviewer. However its literally giving full access to your PC so I must emphasis that you really gotta trust them.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

Couldn't you set an in game trigger to "End Mission" and then let it cycle to the next available mission on a preset mission list? May not go directly to the one you want, but could set up the trigger in every mission and eventually cycle to the one you wanted.

Maybe crude way of doing it, but it should work.

Use "Time more" and "End mission" functions if you like to switch mission on specific time intervals, 3, 4, 5 hours for eks. End mission will start the next mission in the mission list or random if that is selected on the mission list.

EDIT. The same principle works also by using a flag as trigger for mission over. Someone kills something, someone looses, etc...

Thanks for your other responses. I think we will try and reduce to four maps, then each map can have the three radio triggers to start the others. We can change missions at our leisure, and then there is no bother updating scripts, or allowing users remote access.

Thanks again.

That is the only mod I use in DCS, and it is server side only. A big reason I have it is for permanent banning, my server is Open to all and we don't tolerate Team Killers. There is also Servman but I have not used it.

I did what you tried where at the end of a mission the Clients could load some missions by choice through the Radio Menu. Problem I had is that I include a version indicator in my mission names and every time I updated a mission I'd have to go back into the other missions that could call it and update those, too. I never had a problem with crashing due to this though, but that was a couple DCS versions back.

I also had a 5-mission campaign that would start at #3 and auto load the next one depending upon a Red or Blue win, but with the same issues about the Load Mission arguments and mission file names. I do have Teamviewer on my remote server (my home bandwidth is not too good) and will give the password to a few for group Fly-Ins but will then change the password after.
