JDarksword Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 One of my buddies has been trying to do A2A in the Mirage recently. Occasionally when attempting to lock a target a message will appear on the HUD reading "NO PSIC" and he becomes unable to lock the target. I couldn't find anything in the manual about this so does anyone know what it means? Screenshot will be posted below. "Though I fly through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil. For I am 80,000 feet and climbing." -9th SRW Det. 1 Wing Ops, Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i5-4460, 16GB of RAM, MSi GTX 970 Twin Frozr V, ASRock H97M Anniversary, 2x 1TB HDD, Fractal design Core 1100, Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog, CH Pro Pedals, Corsair Vengeance K70, Razer Abyssus mouse, BenQ 1080P monitor.
Frederf Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 It means he's not in the superlative radar lock mode which is required to support the Super 530 in attack. There are three states, scanning, lock#1 (PID), and lock#2 (PIC or PSIC). Basse PRF can only do scanning Interleaved PRF can do scanning and PID Haute PRF can do all three For example in HPRF the lock button is pressed once to go from scanning to PID and again to P(S)IC, the symbology being different with this last transition.
Rlaxoxo Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Yea Mirage radar "Lock" is under ED's control atm Sadly, It's old piece of FC code that's been left out and it's gonna take a while to change all this cus ED is currently busy I guess ... But basically the lock on range for any target is 85% of the detection distance so even if you see the target from a far you won't be able to lock it This was one of the side effects for fixing "Super - Radar" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Youtube Reddit
myHelljumper Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 85% is not bad at all... Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA
Dave317 Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 So if a enemy plane pops up over the mountains within say 20 miles does this mean I can't lock it immediately?
myHelljumper Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 (edited) From my experience no. You should be able to lock him Edited August 25, 2016 by myHelljumper Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA
Dave317 Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 I've noticed this the last few days and wondered what was wrong.
myHelljumper Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Oh damn me I read it wrong , at 20 nm you should be able to lock the bandit ! Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA
Dave317 Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Ok, how far away does an enemy have to be for this bug? I can't remember exactly how far the bandit was but I couldn't lock him until I got a lot closer.
myHelljumper Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 30nm should always be good for a lock. Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA
Rlaxoxo Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 30nm should always be good for a lock. Sometimes I can't even lock a target at 19nm [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Youtube Reddit
nomdeplume Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Maximum lock range should depend on the target as type well, since they each have their own RCS value which should affect the maximum detection range of that target, and therefore the maximum lock range.
myHelljumper Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 It also seams that aspect is taken into account, head on will lock sooner than tail chase Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA
acdelta57 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Ah ok I remember seeing something briefly on this but now I understand. Curious tho now what do the initial stand for PSIC in English? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]1000 miles of road will take you around town, a 1000 feet of runway can take you around the world...unless your in a Huey, you can go anywhere with no runway in a Huey! multiplayer name ''DustOff=3=6''
