colyoap Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 OK, so I have dcs 1.2 as well as 2.0 installed. I figured on waiting for 2.5 to get back into the Caucus map but now with the release of 'piercing fury' I don't think I can wait until the end of the year (or whenever "subject to change" is lol). So my question is, does anyone know how much data I will need to stream to get 1.5? I know some will pull from 1.2 not sure how much tho or if any will pull from 2.0 files. Limited Internet cap every month. Really appreciate any help! Yurgon Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 (edited) Well you're probably not gonna like this: My 1.5 installation directory is 33 GB (excluding uninstalled mods, but including Mustang's texture mod), with pretty much every module except MiG-15 and F-5E installed. However, I believe the old standalone installer (one .exe and three .bin files) was roughly 7 GB in total, and the A-10C module less than one GB. The new campaign is roughly 100 MB IIRC. Hopefully others have taken a closer look at the actual amount of data that DCS downloads during installation. Edited September 10, 2016 by Yurgon Typo
Art-J Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 (edited) That, as always, depends on how many and which modules You own. Although, If You keep Your 2.0.x copy up to date, and if Your 1.2.x updater detects this second installment correctly, then almost all of the aircraft data will be pulled from it indeed. Edit - my 1.5.4 OB is about 26 gigs when custom mods are deactivated. I own all 3 warbirds, both Korean birds, MiG-21 and Mi-8. colyoap Posted September 10, 2016 Author Posted September 10, 2016 2.0 is up to date and I would only need A-10c this month, so are we guessing less than 7gigs? Or am I (optimistically) misunderstanding something Callsign: "Milkman" I7-8700k@4.8--Corsair H115i pro--EVGA FTW3 1080ti--GB Aorus Z370--256GB M.2 SSD--16GB ram--Win10--1000wGold Rate PSU--CV1 Rift--TIR5--X55 HOTAS--TM pedals--TM MFDs--Custom UFC
Art-J Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Difficult to say - the unmodded Caucasus terrain folder in 1.5.4 is 3.24 GB big, but there are other 1.5.x-related files scattered all over the main game folder. You would have to find someone with exactly the same modules combo as You to compare his 1.5.x size to Your 1.2.x. But if You intend to update your 1.2.x rather than start from scratch, less than 7 gigs sounds plausible. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
