ebabil Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Hi guys I am planning to buy a 32 inch full hd tv for using it as both tv and monitor. I would like to use it as 32 inch tv of course but when gaming, i want to use it as 27 inch monitor. I want rest of the screen remain black. I play very close to the pc and 1080p is way too less for gaming on 32" i think. Can i set it somehow? JG14_Smil Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 I'm sitting pretty close to a 32" TV right now, looking at this. No problems. I don't think you can do what you ask. Maybe if you use those horizontal and vertical stretch buttons, but that would be a pain. Good luck to you,
droopy114 Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I play on a 32'' too, Anti-Aliasing is not that great, so i've enabled DSR factor (wich is a downsamplig solution) to 1,76 and now it look great.
cichlidfan Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I used to run a 40" 1080p screen. I thought it looked fine but the structure of my pit had my head about 3ft from the screen. No matter what settings you use, you won't get the results you want since if you only use 27" of the display you will have less than full HD resolution. The resolution is defined by the physical hardware components of the display panel and it has 1080 physical rows. If you black out 10% of that space then you lose 10% of the available pixels. BitMaster Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 What you should look at to understand what cichlidfan said is also PPI ( Pixels per Inch ). The more PPI the finer the image is rendered on your screen, less zaggy edges, better overall look. Contrary, the wider the screen on same Resolution the less PPI you get = worse image. Imho 27" fits nice with WQHD ( 2560x1440 ) and is perfect with 4k/UHD resolution. FullHD is already kind of rough pixeled at 24" and beyond if you are used to Retina looks and high PPI. Anyway, as cichlidfan said, a TFT has a fixed matrix and you can only run ONE resolution screen-filling, the one it was made for. Any other resolution will either have a black border ( but sharp looks ) or is screen filling but blurred ( fixed matrix ! ). TFT aint like a CRT was, where you could have many different resolutions crisp sharp due to a cathode ray that can be controlled ( simple said ).
