I posted before and was advised to change my f5s preset freq to whatever am freq. I was told to then goto the fac and change their freq in the mission editor to the same AM freq as your presets. Fine. ( if you make a quick f5 mission you get CAS )

I did so and tested this. The FAC JTAC definitely is only on that freq. And its selected as AM. My F5 is switched to the right preset made in the mission editor. The FAC is invisible and cannot be targetted. Even thinking maybe it was an AM radio thing and over flying where he was supposed to be ( i put the bullseye there) and radioing him over where he was... nada.

So how do you contact a fac or jtac with the F5 pls and ty?

Did you check that your radio is switched to "PRESET" mode in the cockpit? The default mode is "MANUAL" which ignores the preset button and uses whatever frequency you have tuned via the manual tune buttons.

Ok that worked thanks. Now part II i can contact wither JTAC in this mission. The areas crawling with Russian troops. Both JTACs say they got nothing for me and i csn rtb and i had even dropped or fired a shot yet...

Btw anyone notice the manual radio settings oddly wont tune under 100 mhz?

The AN/ARC-164 UHF radio should be limited to 225.00 to 399.975 MHz. So frequencies below that range are a bug/Easter egg.

I may be wrong as to how low i could manually set it but im almost certain i could get it to 111 at least.

Still though what gives with the 2 FACs i talked to telling a 4 sip of F5Es with the area crawling with enemy ground targets "nope youre good head home"

The 'T' position on the real radio is a spring return and used to sync the 'Time of Day' clock for the 'A' position Auto frequency anti-jamming hopping mode (not simulated).

At the moment 'T' acts like '1' in Manual Mode, so allows lower values to be set.

I do wish Belsimtek had modelled the hinged access panel under the frequency chart as it would allow us to save Manual frequencies to Preset Channels using a 'store' button.

AFAIK it should work like the C-101EB radio

I think it happens when the FAC doesn't recognise or think you have suitable munitions to attack the targets (possibly wip or a bug).

Strange if they thought we didnt have suitable munitions

Lead and element leader - 5 snakeyes, 4 rocket pods, 2 aim9, wingmen for both sidewinders and clusterbombs all the way.

Idk sounds like a helluva problem for anything that gets hit by that flight.

Ok thanks.

So the quick mission generator isnt a quick mission generator at all for the f5 right now.

You have to manually edit the freqs and now also edit the jtacs to attack enemy units as well. :/

Its just a shame you have to tinker so much.

For one it sucks with ww2 ac. You really have to mess with it i wish theyd fix that so if youre flying ww2 ac you only get ww2 ac against you unless you deliberately modify it.

As far as the F5 i know its WIP. Im just sayin it sucks you have to do a lot of work for it and in doing so you basically know the enemy TO&E and flight routes and everything because you have to go in and edit heavily. :(

So has anyone got this to worlk with AI Jtac? If yes then I will keep plugging on to get it to work. I have been trying in NTTR maybe I will try in the beta.

I've tried and gave up. I just create the laser beams manually through a LUA script.

Every time I tried the AI JTAC refused to lase the target even if a group of vehicles was explicitly assigned to him and he was told to lase them.

I hope somebody will be more successful...

I got it to work in the beta just now. Now I am going to work on NTTR. The 9 line seemed different in NTTR.

EMKO I can send you my quick mission to see how to set it up. pm me your email. No scripts.

Had 3 in my group to attack and got all 3 from 20,000 feet. Love the call shift.

Now to experiment limitations.

Got it working in NTTR. All is good now.

I also don't have the NTTR. But the miz file is just a zip file with "wrong" extension and you have a bunch of text files there. Every text editor which understands a LUA code can open and syntax-color them. Then it's easy to see which actions / triggers / units were set.

Yes I got it to work in both maps with AI. Love the shift call. Once one is dead it auto lase another target in group. No Scripts. It is a little tricky. Using advance waypoints to get it to work.

All this with object standing still.

1. EPLRS

2. Go invisible

3. ROE=return fire. Even though it is invisible and wont get shot. It seems to need this to fire laser.

3. Go FAC

4. Assign group, Guided bombs laser designation.

You know you are golden when in the nineline Axeman calls out lase and gives code.

Last night our squad did some live laser and it was fun. Squad member got in Humvee and lase targets for us.

May be this was my problem. I'll give it a try.

For testing purpose place the Jtac close to the group to make sure you have line of sight. Then go see how far you can go back.

Worked. BTW if I left ROE in Weapon Hold, the GBU hit the JTAC vehicle. I hope that they don't work like this in the real world :-D .
