With the seat you just need a usb port. I dont know if the soundcard has anything to do with the seats vibration. I dont think it does. Id certainly have at least one soundboard. Im thinking of putting in a cheap second card to drive a homemade buttkicker outfit i want to build.

Calm down guys, at the end it's still a game...

I'm on vacation and have only limited internet connection and no development machine around.

As you noted, it's a freeware application and I buy all the modules by myself to implement the support for it and give it for free to you...

I get nothing from seat purchases or sound module licenses...

So, back to the topic...

SSA uses the simshaker.lua file to read data from DCS and sends them via Sockets (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_socket) to SSA. The DCS Debug View more or less shows the received data. I don't know if DCS does not allow export player data if no network connection is available. Might be a related to the new protection system? Or if some Windows magic is preventing the data to flow...

That's all I can say from here. I'll be back in roughly 3 weeks...

If the seat doesn't work, for whatever reason, then it is a $200 paperweight. It doesn't have anything to do with a game. It's basically like buying a car that wont run. My money and expectation of use of the purchased item are wasted. If you buy a game for $100 and it doesnt work for you, do you just throw it away and forget it? No, you work with the seller to get what you paid for and what was expected when you bought it.

Have you considered a website forum to organize users questions, problems, ideas, etc..? Right now you have to answer the same question a lot and searching effectively through 122+ pages of comments isn't working. Especially for new users and non computer folks like me. You could put the stable and beta downloads on it. Tons of features that would help us customers.

Unless there is another program recommended by the seller (Andre) that will run the Jetseat Series as he advertises then we are then customers of your service with an expectation of service and support of the jetseat SimShaker program software.

So you see, it is NOT "just a game". It is the principle. More than that, it doesn't take very long of using your wonderful products to make having them not working ruin the entire gaming experience. Which is extremely irritating and worse. Especially when not having that seat working brings $3000 of stuff to a halt because I don't feel the reality I'm seeking without it....

Hi.

I apologize for the fact that I get into a conversation between you and Olaf.

I use a vibrocape several years, practically from the moment of her support in DCS World.

Your comparison with the car isn't correct. Sometimes on the car it is necessary to pass hundreds in kilometer on a spare wheel until repair of the basic.

Often in work with SimShaker for Aviators problems after the DCS World or Windows updating appear. Wait a little (use the spare wheel) so far Olaf won't eliminate a bug.

-=archer=-

Before uninstallation I recommend to keep own setting up the program if these are it is necessary to keep. To uninstall SimShaker for Aviators by means of a standard application removal of programs Windows. Then to remove folder contents: c:\Users\name\AppData\Local\Apps\. To remove the "my own .uwv files" folder (if such is is available) in c:\Users\name\ directory. To remove the "Scripts" folder in a directory with the established game c:\Users\name\Saved Games\DCS\ or c:\Users\name\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\

It seems, everything if I am not mistaken.

Yeah, that was a little bit of a rant... no disrespect intended. Frustration and exasperation is getting to me... When I hear 'its only a game' it tells me to just relax and don't worry about it... Hard to do when an expensive piece of kit doesn't work... I get what you're saying but you will hopefully understand me too...

I can't tell: 'its only a game' because this game already became a part of the life. In this case to you will have to use spare option to a solution. I sometimes have problems in work of the SimShaker for Aviators program that very strongly upsets. Very much I have got used to a cape in a game. But it is good that Olaf doesn't refuse support and development of SimShaker for Aviators.

I would also suggest you turn it down a notch. Olaf is developing this program for free in his spare time. You cannot request anything let alone start a rant in this threat. This is totally out of line.

And yes, it is my business because if more people start behaving like this, Olaf might just say, "Well, :censored: you guys. I quit." Ever thought of that?

So be grateful for what you got. Someone did spend hundreds of hours to develop a software and give it to you - for free.

Part of the problem is that you are technically complaining about somebody else's product. SSA is free, f4l0 makes no money off of it, with the exception of donations. And complaining the way you are is going to do nothing positive, in fact he could just say he isn't working on his program any more if he wanted to. It's fine asking for help to try and get it working, it's another to act like a jerk to try and get your problem resolved.

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=134704&page=214 is the thread where you would want to raise the concerns of your "$200 paperweight" as you put it.

Ok, so answer this question..... will the KW-908 seat pad work WITHOUT the SimShaker for Aviators software? Yes or No...

I've said repeatedly that this seat and software are the best thing next to VR for bringing reality to simming. Being grateful for something ends when it effects something I paid for. This is a joint venture between Andre and Olaf. Personally I think the software should be payware. That's been my point.

So? Yes or No?

You mean will it work in dcs without the sim Shaker software? No. Will it work in windows as long as you have the jet seat control panel installed, yes as a massage chair basically.

As I said, a $200 paperweight. The seat is advertised for gaming, not massaging. Part of buying the seat includes the software (as advertised on Andre's website). If you buy a computer and it says it is white in color, then you expect that and should. If it turns out to be black once you unbox it do you just say 'oh, well... I'm just grateful it is a computer. Of course not... Same thing here.

So if YOUR personal seat is working perfectly well then thats great but to tell me to be grateful when mine is not working correctly is BS. Try turning your internet connection off and see if the seat/software still works. Not everyone can be online when they use the sims.

I do appreciate Olaf's work. Do any of you put the seat and opinion of it and it's software in your signatures? I have referred 5 or 6 people already to buy the seat because I believe in it.

Anyway, let's stop this topic as it is taking away from the purpose of this thread.

Has anyone got the seat to work with the Bell-47 mod to the Uh-1 module?

Guys, please relax. It's still a game, a hobby, a passion but not essential for life...

Mariner, I can somehow understand your anger but there is nothing I can do right now. I reached out to some testers and here are the results:

1) If Ethernet network connection is disabled, SSA gets no data from DCS

2) If Ethernet cable is unplugged, so no physical connection, SSA gets no data from DCS.

3) If Ethernet cable is plugged in and connected to a network and network connection is enabled but there is no internet access, SSA gets data from DCS.

So, might be an issue with DCS but could also be on the Windows side...

To get back to the car example, it seems that one blames the car manufacturer that the road is bumpy...

In Europe we like to share stuff basically for free to improve the experience for all. Making SSA payware would be very complicated. In Germany you have to pay roughly 50% of the sales price in taxes to the state. To make this somehow profitable SSA would cost a fortune! As funnyfrank mentioned, I spend several hundred hours on SSA, even took time of from work to implement new stuff...

However, I'll be back in roughly 3 weeks and will have a deeper look. But I guess patience is a rare good nowadays...

Posted

I am not angry, I am disappointed and frustrated.

Whatever... I see nobody either understands, doesn't want to admit to understanding, or they are taking things personally about what I am talking about. Your car 'example' has absolutely no bearing on what I am talking about. If you don't see that, too bad. As far as patience, how about shutting your phone off for 3 weeks. It's just a phone, right? That's my opinion but I bet it isn't yours... Answer the question about the computer - youy don't get the color you ordered, what do you do? Surely you can answer that...

Screw it, maybe I'll look into Andre taking back the seat since it's not going to work as advertised to me... So much for free advertisement!

In America, we like to get what we PAY for... Believe me, I PAID for your software... whether YOU made the best deal with Andre is your problem, not mine.

Guys, I'd like to comment a little on those test results.

We can see from #3 that SSA doesn't require Internet connection in order to work with DCS, which is quite reasonable.

We can see from #1,2 that SSA requires enabled and connected Ethernet port on the PC in order to work with DCS.

I'm not too much surprized, since SSA uses network protocols widely for local data exchange. Most of us prefer "always connected" lifestyle so the issue could be just unnoticed so far.

We can localize the issue somewhere at the interface between DCS and SSA. I don't know can it be fixed by Olaf within SSA borders or not. We'll see.

I suggest that #3 test result could give us a workaround in order to let current implementation of the software (DCS, SSA, Windows) to work together having the internet off.

If we connect the PC to the internet router via the simpliest intermediate ethernet switch (may be this one), it should do the trick. Please have a look at my drawing attached. We need to unplug the cable 2 in order to disconnect the PC from the Internet and keep the cable 1 plugged in.

I suppose also there may be some other variants of connections with the same goal - to let PC network card to be up and running.

I will give it a try in a bit. As I said before, if my PC is in "Airplane Mode" then SSA works fine. According to my Win10 help topic, that shuts off electronic transmissions to and from the PC. So I think you are on to something, Andre. I will report my results.

I suggest that "Airplane Mode" is applied to means of wireless communications (Wi-Fi, cellular, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC). Currently I have only Ethernet on my PC and can't see the "Airplane Mode" in my settings to try it out with SSA.

I don't know why the airplane mode is on my Win10. I don't have WiFi on my gaming rig.

I have an ethernet cable plugged into a wireless extender which uses WiFi to talk with my Wireless Router downstairs.

So...

With the Ethernet cord plugged into the Extender and the WiFi router downstairs OFF (power unplugged), the seat works fine.

With the Ethernet cable disconnected from the back of the PC, the seat does not work. With the cable plugged into the PC but the extender off, the seat does not work.

Wouldn't that mean that there is something in the extender that is allowing the DCS signal to return to the PC (and the seat) when it has power? Or if the ethenet adapter is off, it won't return or let pass through the signal from DCS to the seat? We now know that it absolutely doesn't talk outside to the internet. That's good. Now how to let DCS talk to the seat? An ethernet adapter setting?

I think the powered extender makes the PC to "think" it's connected to a network and to enable all the network capabilities, although it's actually not connected. I think the signal doesn't go from the PC to the extender and returns back, it should be looped inside the PC.

On my opinion, currently you just need to give the PC something to make it "think" it's connected to a network. That may be a powered ethernet switch, hub, another computer/laptop network card, another network card on this PC, etc. Something with an ethernet port. Do you have anything suitable beside the extender?

I think exactly the same thing. Something needs to loop through or around that ethernet port. The powered extender allows me to use the PC when there is no internet network available. I dont have any other device that can do anything but the extender works my personal situation out. I realize that most folks don't use sims offline much anymore but it does happen.

I want to thank everyone who contributed meaningful advice and comments in helping figure this out. Andre and Olaf, I want to thank you both again for giving us such a wonderful device! It really is equal to VR in bringing reality to simming.
