A note to MP server Admins

First of all, I wanted to thank each of you that run a server for what you do. You make the whole DCS thing come alive for guys like me that don't really fly single missions and campaigns.

 

I wanted to write this because as a cockpit builder, it is getting pretty hard to find a server to fly on. I understand why Integrity checks and blocked exports are needed, so I hold no ill-will to those for using them. I guess I'm part of a very small group.

 

Last night, I came across another Ka-50 pilot (rare these days). He actually communicated with me (more rare) and he knew what and how to use the data link system (rarest of all on a free-flight server). The datalink, a very important MP BS feature didn't work. Sensor export was shut off.

I guess the world is a better place now. Two Blackshark enthusiasts were stopped from tearing the whole empty server to shreds with our game-cheating datalink connection.

 

Like I said earlier, I appreciate the servers very much and I'm not criticizing anything. I've never cheated or even wanted to do so, but I guess there are people that do. Alienating the most dedicated sub-group (cockpit builders) from a sim that is made for those very same people is kind of crazy IMHO. I know I'm the oddball here.. don't get mad and start banning me for saying this.

I guess you have to shop around. The RAF Air UK server permits all forms of exports, and also runs the DCS Simple Radio, and for the majority of the time is open to all comers.

As far as i'm aware sensor export only stops you exporting sensor data outside the sim. The datalink within game shouldn't be affected by this unless you're exporting it to external software which is what you're innocently doing with your pit. So in essence it is not the dl that is being classed as a cheat as you say (this should work normally in game), but the use of the sensor data through external software that will not be allowed.

I've never cheated or even wanted to do so, but I guess there are people that do.

 

Yes sadly this is correct sir, there are many.... many cheats, haters and trolls in our community, which is why we have never been able to turn this feature off for you and similar clients.

 

Its human nature unfortunately, on the internet especially .... the few ruin it for the many!

Hopefully, I'll find another person to test the DL with soon. Maybey we did something wrong, though I am pretty sure I know how to use it.

 

To tell the truth, I had no idea cheating was so rampant. Makes one think twice about all of this. What a shame..

 

If I may say so, I find it odd that these export limits are needed in the free-flight, non-pvp servers I have been flying in.

I'm going to guess that you are wanting to use LEAVU which is considered a cheat by most since it gives you capabilities that you wouldn't normally have in your aircraft. I seriously doubt you're going to find any of the more popular servers allowing things like that. I mean, a KA50 with 360 radar...

Im pretty sure he is talking about the ka50 datalink. Im guessing your guess is wrong about him cheating.

He is using a home-cockpit...Sensor Export lock prevents DCS from exporting data to the software required to run these pits.

 

If he didn´t use these pits, he´d have no problem.

-=16AGR=- US East Dynamic Caucacus doesn't have this issue. I export everything (for now, server is based on more casual play/fun), any questions let me know, I coded and made the mission.

 

Still have integrity checks on though, you kind of have to.
