US Navy Attack Squadrons by Home Fries

I have just released fictional skin packs for the Su-25T representing USN A-7 Corsair II squadrons. The Su-25T is tactically painted according to MIL-STD-2161A(AS), with organizational markings matching the period from 1986-1991.

The VA-72 Blue Hawks were SEAD pioneers in the USN, so they were naturals for the Su-25T. It also helps that there is a lot of photographs of their aircraft, so I was able to replicate the high color CAG and CO birds.

And line skins

Each skin has a normal version and a weathered version ideal for desert maps.

The VA-46 Clansmen were a sister squadron to VA-72 in Desert Storm (both part of CVW-1 embarked on the JFK), so they are a natural complement.

Finally, the VA-27 Royal Maces were added to represent a west coast squadron (prior to VFA-27's move to Japan). These markings are from 1986.

Enjoy, and Fly Navy!

All versions have been updated to 1.0a. This version updates the installer to allow for traditional installs (e.g. textures in livery folders).

Thanks a lot for this .. in the past I had refrained from using your skins because I didnt fully understood how and where the skins installed.

With the new installer today I tried it and was a relief to have this option to save the liveries in the traditional way.

Thanks a lot for sharing :)

Thanks for the feedback. Great to know the feature is appreciated. I have an even newer version of the installer that lets you create a JSGME compatible mod. I'll be applying this to all of my skins.

These look great! Thanks for your work :)

FWIW, I have the VA-52 Knightriders and VA-75 Sunday Punchers ready to go with the Viggen as soon as the template is released. These were A-6 squadrons in the same air wings as VA-27/VA-97 and VA-46/72 respectively.

Here's the VA-75 CAG bird, pre-template.

Finally, the USAF Adversaries were added as a selectable nation.

Good to know, because when I select USA as country, the mission editor doesnt allow me to place Su-25Ts on the map :( ... it seems that I would have to edit the countries_db.lua file to allow for this.

hi this didn't seem to work for me can you give me any advise please

thanks

Hi chaser,

In order to properly troubleshoot your issue, I need a lot more information.

  • Which install variant did you choose (e.g. compact, full, JSGME)?
  • Did the issue happen with the installer or with the skins not displaying in-game?
  • Do you use the English version of DCS, or do you use another language?
  • Do you use an English or international version of Windows?
  • What troubleshooting steps did you take to determine that the skins didn't work?

Best,

HF
