Valium Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Hello guys. I've been testing DCS for a while but I still have some problems and I can't stand this anymore. I hope you'll help me. 1. At first, my specification: Intel i5-2500 3.30-3.60GHz Radeon HD 6790 1024 MB 8GB RAM Windows 8.1 64-bit 2. Game: DCS ( stable version after updates ), Caucasian map 3. My problem: Regardless of how my grpahic settings look like, when I fly the Mirage over bigger cities like Tbilisi or Batumi and forests ESPECIALLY , I got lags. They also appear when there're many clouds or when I'm flying high ( 30 000 ft ) and I'm using the camera outside the plane. Cameras: F1 - I don't have any lags here even over forests, cities, in clouds, etc. F2 - sometimes they appear over them F3 - they appear really often, sometimes not and that makes I really don't know where's the problem because I didn't change anything. There's no lags when I press F3 and the plane is heading in my direction but when plane is receding and I see his back, I have lags - sometimes fps jumping, sometimies medium lags, huge or my game stands for a few seconds. It appears over cities, trees ( more often over trees, cities without trees are not problem ), sometimes in clouds and often when I'm at 30000 ft. I really don't know what the main problem is. What's more, once I had low settings and when I set higher, game was going better. Can you believe it? I can't use High Texures because I have little lags at cockpit so I use medium. I created my own skin for Mirage with less textures because that on of HAF makes my game sometimes is going crazy... I'd like to have good looking game but stable and without lags to have fluency. Valium Posted October 30, 2016 Author Posted October 30, 2016 I would also like to add that over see I don't have any problems even if settings are higher. Click here to see more pictures of Polish Air Force! Check also my album.
Winston 60 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 The biggest problem could be your video card. Minimum spec for DCS is 2gb VRAM and you have only 1gb. CPU: i7 980x @ 4.2GHz RAM: 24gb Corsair Vengeance MB: Gigabyte Sniper X58 w/onboard Soundblaster X-Fi HD: SanDisk 480gb SSD OS: Win7 Pro 64bit VIDEO CARD: EVGA GTX 980ti FTW MONITOR: LG 34" Ultrawide 2560x1080 MP SERVER: ibuypower i7-4810MQ w/Win7 Home 64bit GEAR: Saitek X-52 Pro; Combat Rudder Pedals; Throttle Quadrants. Thrustmaster MFD's, TrackIR 5 w/Pro Clip, Turtle Beach X-12 Headset
Valium Posted October 30, 2016 Author Posted October 30, 2016 (edited) I'm not sure if I don't have 2 video cards. I have to check it. I doubt that DCS could work with 1gb if needs at least 2. Haukka81 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 (edited) Your GPU is really the problem, too slow. Get faster GPU My gpu was R6870 first and after that i got gtx 660 and fps got really large boost. Now i have 970 and its light years faster than my old radeon. Valium Posted October 30, 2016 Author Posted October 30, 2016 Ok, I see. I'm going to check it. How the rest of my computer looks like comparing to graphic card? Click here to see more pictures of Polish Air Force! Check also my album.
Valium Posted October 30, 2016 Author Posted October 30, 2016 My motherboard is Gigabyte GA-H67M-D2-B3 Click here to see more pictures of Polish Air Force! Check also my album.
DarkFire Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 The rest of your computer isn't too terrible. The two things that really stand out that could do with improvement are: 1. Graphics card. DCS uses a lot of video card memory and benefits from a good video card. Get one with at least 2GB of VRAM. 2. System memory. Again, DCS uses a lot of system memory. You'll see a noticeable improvement if you add another 8 GB to give you a total of 16. System Spec: Cooler Master Cosmos C700P Black Edition case. | AMD 5950X CPU | MSI RTX-3090 GPU | 32GB HyperX Predator PC4000 RAM | | TM Warthog stick & throttle | TrackIR 5 | Samsung 980 Pro NVMe 4 SSD 1TB (boot) | Samsung 870 QVO SSD 4TB (games) | Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Personal wish list: DCS: Su-27SM & DCS: Avro Vulcan.
Valium Posted October 30, 2016 Author Posted October 30, 2016 (edited) Ok, so it seems I have to buy 2 things: - 8GB RAM - I hope I have enough place for it - better graphic card What GPU is worth to buy? What about GTX 950 or 960? I don't have much money to buy something new and really, really good so I can buy new card but with worse parameters or used card ( not new ) but with better parameters. Any ideas? I forgot to add that my 8GB RAM is DDR3. 1TB of hard disk ( only 46 GB of free space at the disk where game was installed ). I'm looking for something which will be compatible to my motherboard Gigabyte GA-H67M-D2-B3 in both cases. Maybe it? Winston 60 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 ...... 1TB of hard disk ( only 46 GB of free space at the disk where game was installed )..... May I also suggest a good de-frag of your nearly full hard drive with a good commercial de-frag program (not the one included with Windows)? Your hard drive, in a nearly full state, may have fragmented DCS files and this may contribute to jerks and pauses if the hard drive is thrashing about trying to load the necessary files as you play. The hard drive takes longer to read files (your game may jerk, lag, jump and pause) if they are spread out and not stored in a contiguous manner. Valium Posted October 31, 2016 Author Posted October 31, 2016 I got 2 discs ( C, E ). At disc C I got Windows and some programs installed (350Gb free), E - for games, my files, downloads and lately for system back-ups which are make every week ( it takes a lot so I should remove some and start to place it at C ). I uninstalled some non-using games from E, remove some back-ups, compressed 70% of files and I received addional 50 GB. As I wrote, I bought GTX 960. Now, I want to buy 8GB RAM but I have to check if I have enough place for it. Click here to see more pictures of Polish Air Force! Check also my album.

Valium Posted October 31, 2016 Author Posted October 31, 2016 Later, when I have more money, I'll think about additional 8GB RAM. Now I see that I've got 2x 4RAM. Click here to see more pictures of Polish Air Force! Check also my album.
MegOhm_SD Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 SSD would be a good idea as well. ShuRugal Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 What GPU is worth to buy? What about GTX 950 or 960? I don't have much money to buy something new and really, really good so I can buy new card but with worse parameters or used card ( not new ) but with better parameters. take a look at http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html The 960 and the 950 both score in the 5k points range, so if the price difference is large, get the cheaper one. For an idea of good cards that won't break the budget, check out this chart: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_value.html it gives you value:money rating. Right now it looks like the GTX950 is the best performing card under $150, and it has the third highest value:money rating, so it is probably your best bet.
Valium Posted November 2, 2016 Author Posted November 2, 2016 I bought GTX 960 4GB because I found good offer. So, my specification will be: i-5 2500k 3.60 GHz GTX 960 4GB 8 GB RAM ( 2x 4GB will be changed for 2x 8GB in the nearest future ) What settings do you suggest with this specifiaction ( with 8GB RAM )? Click here to see more pictures of Polish Air Force! Check also my album.
Valium Posted November 4, 2016 Author Posted November 4, 2016 I added my GTX 960 4GB. Game works fine with really good settings because all are high and the game is very fluent. I got different question. When I open DCS and mission starts ( I see cockpit and I have to press button to start ), my GPU increases fan speed and is louder. Here's a screenshot from MSI Afterburner at that situation. Is it right? Click here to see more pictures of Polish Air Force! Check also my album.
20thBG_Blackwolf Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Mine does that too. I have it set to boost when running games like DCS. More GPU needed= more fan to cool it. BSD Discord , BSD Website If it doesn't hover, it just sucks and blows
