Von Thrud Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Hi team, getting a lot of stuttering in various a/c, smooth in between stutters, good fps, no difference with res / or graphics settings detuned etc. usb power management is mostly turned off that I can see and power management is at ecological unsound levels. I have noted in my log file I get many repolls of usb controllers and they all get assigned a new id number each time... Von Thrud Posted November 10, 2016 Author Posted November 10, 2016 Update. 20161110... Stuttering fixed generally, except when I get track IR disconnect / reconnect msg - which is only when my track clip pro is off my head - seems to work much better I have uninstalled / deactivated everything, deleted all profiles / saves directories and done a fresh install. Win10 64bit patched. Z77 mobo I7 K 16GB 2133 ram 980Ti. DCS on second SSD OS on first SSD temp folders and save game file on separate 7200rpm HDD on separate SATA controller. USB devices on mixture of internal and expansion card ports, plus Phillips 4k monitor usb hub builtin. TM MFDS TM warthog J+T 2x groovey game gear gpwiz 40's M&K Logitech headset All USB power management options disabled / off in various device pages. DCS added to AVAST antivirus Nothing really fixed the frequent micro stutters until I reinstalled. Also I have not reinstalled all modules... just A10c, F5e, Mirage, OPF campaign (previously I had everything installed except 109 and 190 and C101) What I get now though is still the massive stutters on trackIR unplugged etc msg. Log attached. cheersdcs.log.old.rar System: I7 7700K - Delidded. BitMaster Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 (edited) deattach ALL usb devices and take a round with keyboard only, if it is then stutterfree you have a faulty USB implementation ( Asus mobo ??,, DPC latency bug ?? ). Von Thrud Posted November 11, 2016 Author Posted November 11, 2016 (edited) @bitmaster, Good Idea, my original exclusion based troubleshooting idea was to buy rift.... I can't exclude a faulty USB device through I have swapped the ports they are connected to and disabled USB 3 in bios... cheers @skatezilla, thanks for the tip, I guess it's registry editing for me as I have done the power management and device manager usb power management items to the ports / hubs etc ... cheers ... though I can play arma 3 helicoptering with TrackIR and HOG controls just fine, albeit I don't use the mfd's and Gpwiz boards in it. I'll need to be a bit more systematic with excluding devices to narrow it down...trying to avoid a complete win reinstall.... Edited November 11, 2016 by Von Thrud System: I7 7700K - Delidded. Von Thrud Posted November 14, 2016 Author Posted November 14, 2016 @skatezilla.... I have googled and found all the win 10 gui based options in power management and device manager to turn off USB related power management settings and selective suspend. I I still get the TRackIr unplugged error and stutter at this time. I downloaded a program which delates all old USB device entries. My searching for registry tweak has proved unsuccessful for windows 10 specifically. I have gone from dual screen to single screen - full screen option and removed the USB gpwiz 40 device which had the majority of physical switches (for my AHCP panel) from the setup which gave me the most problems with USB resets causing CICU to reset in flight (sad panda) Do you have any other advice of searches or registry tweaks that I have not tried? Thanks for any help  System: I7 7700K - Delidded. Ciribob Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 For me the fix was actually disabling the onboard audio. I only narrowed it down when I reinstalled windows and the original sound drivers. Intermittently realtek would say device plugged in, then device unplugged which would also trigger off dcs to reinitialise the USB devices. Once I disabled the soundcard in the bios all was good. I did originally pull the header cables to the front audio panel but realtek still thought stuff was being plugged in... Von Thrud Posted November 14, 2016 Author Posted November 14, 2016 Thanks for the tip.. will try as i have usb attachment on my logitech g530 headset as primary audio anyway and can go without it. Did you get trackir unplugged the plugged in messages and massive stuttering along with any usb controller based panel with single or double throw switches cycling as the usb device connected again? Ps. Great job with SRS. System: I7 7700K - Delidded. Von Thrud Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 Sadly it doesn't work, might have hardware issues... the only way I can test is to expedite building of new rig with new mobo. BitMaster Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 @ ciribob This seems Like a nice Southbridge issue. Sound--USB--SATA--etc---..they all derive their PCI-Express lanes from the SouthChip and if you have too many devices struggling to get on da bus you still have problems with bandwidth and channels not available when you need them, as in the days of ISA cards and Jumpers... I would DISABLE --ANY-- of the devices on UEFI that you can skip...IEEE1394 for example, COM ports, 2nd NIC, WLAN ( if not needed )...etc... this will free up resources and may get the left lane free for devices to shuffle their data without hard interrupts. I'd try that and see if it works. Also, additional cards in PCIe slots can cause this. Standard i-CPU's have 16 Lanes in the CPU tp drive the PCIe-16x slots ( and those only ! ). If you happen to have an additional card in any of the other 2 or 3 PCIe slots that may or may not lead to Express lane issues. Usually, when you plug in any other card in any of the PCIe16x you downgrade the others. Sometimes with unwanted side effects. Unplug it all, take a minimum approach and see when you get the problem on board when you enable one after the other. Ciribob Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 Thanks! Tried but still happens so I guess it's a driver and/or hardware issue. Von Thrud Posted November 26, 2016 Author Posted November 26, 2016 (edited) Maybe fixed - at least significantly improved I followed these instructions... http://www.aef-hq.com.au/aef4/showthread.php?44812-Found-a-fix-for-juddering-stuttering-in-dcs Then I also went into regedit and drilled down to the following branch HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB in there I searched for "enhanced", this would give me every USB device with a key of "DeviceSelectiveSuspended" or "EnhancedPowerManagementEnabled" and I set the value of all those keys to "0" from where it was "1" Additionally, I have been through device manager and into powermanagement tab of any usb device that had, I turned off power management. Lastly, I disabled usb selective suspend in power plan settings. The performance in 2.0 is vastly better in terms of stuttering (however 2.0 > 1.5 on my pc in general performance terms anyway). I still seem to get the TRackIR disconnect msg periodically with the device off my head, however the massive stuttering at other times has gone. Am too far into changes to know in isolation which items were the "effective" fixes and not enough time to analyse it further. Just happy performance is better. I still get some USB based switch / button panel cycling however though so that's still annoying however, the massive stuttering is gone in both versions, more smaller stuttering in 1.5 but playable again (even prior to today 2.0 update) cheers, hope this helps someone Edited November 26, 2016 by Von Thrud tired after nightshift System: I7 7700K - Delidded.
