Hawkeye60 Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Ever read about the Flanders Field air Battles? It just so happens the anniversary is approaching. Besides, How much fun would you have attacking a Zeppelin that happens to shoot back? ai of course. Or trying to land your plane when half to three quarters of the fabric wing is all torn to shreds? Never mind the WW I artillery always shooting at you! Naaa....... I would hate that! :D "Yeah, and though I work in the valley of Death, I will fear no Evil. For where there is one, there is always three. I preparest my aircraft to receive the Iron that will be delivered in the presence of my enemies. Thy ALCM and JDAM they comfort me. Power was given unto the aircrew to make peace upon the world by way of the sword. And when the call went out, Behold the "Sword of Stealth". And his name was Death. And Hell followed him. For the day of wrath has come and no mercy shall be given."

I think if some upstart dev team was to simply put out 2 planes initially. Green lit by ED for a test sell. A nice Sopwith/Fokker combo they would find them snapped up damn fast. I would guess that with such simple and basic systems development time on them would pretty damn fast. Now sure FM/DM(We are talking wood and canvas here) would take some work but as far as systems go, there really ain't squat much to model. The era seems like the perfect entry point for some new team or as a subset of an existing dev team AND a possible FAST REVENUE generator, with quick module turn over time. I know 2-3 other guys that do not DCS now, but would with WW1 era. Us older dudes remember well Red Baron(I happened to work for Sierra On-line back in the day) and other titles such as Flying Circus where WW1 era dogfighting was a blast. To think of that brought up to ED level and in VR, which seems 7*7 will not do for "Other WW1 Sim" regardless of my email bot spamming them daily with the demand, I know it/they would sell. Doesn't matter that others wouldn't want it. Others would. I don't buy trainers, other do. My not wanting them has not prevented their existence or making others happy with them. There are ton that want the fun with the ED fidelity without the hassle of dealing with complicated system aircraft and hardcore hotas req's(in term of systems to manage and map). With Normandy release, there is a suitable secondary env usage and would fit perfectly. It is the god dang birth and birthplace of what brings everyone here for god sake. Why not allow some team to honor that? Why not some team want to try to honor that? That way, we can enjoy the birth of that era as well. DCS is already now into WW2 era, why not just say f' it and go all in. "DCS, covering air combat from it's birth to the present." Almost sounds like it could be part of a marketing slogan. I guess I could use the word to summon it. I heard you just say "Kickstarter" in the mirror 3 times. I think that is how it gets initiated. TheWedge Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 If they did a WWI for DCS, then I would also buy WWII for DCS.
Zius Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 I'd buy any WW1 aircraft in a heartbeat. As others said, I'd really like the engine management modelled properly. While I love RoF, I'm sure that DCS could improve on the FM. Which aircraft? I'd vote for: Blue: Bleriot XI (the first "real" aircraft, also in limited use at the start of WW1) SPAD XIII (the best / most "modern" fighter of the war together with the Fokker D.VII) Red: Fokker E.III (the first real fighter) Fokker D.VII (the best / most "modern" fighter of the war together with the SPAD XIII) Modules: Bf 109, C-101, CE-II, F-5, Gazelle, Huey, Ka-50, Mi-8, MiG-15, MiG-19, MiG-21, Albatros, Viggen, Mirage 2000, Hornet, Yak-52, FC3
