Dcs 1.5 plays great.

Dcs 2.0 there is no instant action, mission editor, or anything playable. I haven't bought dcs NTTR or other terrains.

What gives ?

From the DCS v2.0 download description.

DCS World 2 requires DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) terrain module,

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/

Precisely what part of that did you not understand?

Btw, beside Nevada, there are no other terrains available for purchase. Do you even read the descriptions of things before you buy/download them?

Hey Cichlidfan.....Lighten up man. The guy is new....and the 200 pages of all the different confusing mind numbing installs is beyond difficult if you are new too this.

My apologies, I did not pay attention to the join date of the OP. However, new or not, reading a bit before downloading would still be a very practical idea.

Thanks for clarifying it. I really enjoy the complexity of the game, but time being limited it does become a little overwhelming. Thanks to all who try to help, as a newbie it makes a huge difference having a supporting on line community.

When I get all this figured out, I'll be sure to pay it forward with the next "new guy".

Hey HoYa!

Remember that the NTTR is still in the alpha stage and the content for it is still being created / updated. There will be training missions added to it, there will be a dedicated training campaign for A-10C which I am currently working on (see this thread for more info), and the map will be upgraded with additional airfields, cities etc.

Also, sometime early next year we will have the merge of 1.5 and 2.0 into 2.5, where with one executable you will be able to fly on all available maps. So things are developing. I agree there is not much to do on Nevada now, though if you plan to learn the basics for one of the western airframes, it is a good place to fly for immersion.
