Gr00v3r Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Would like to see something like this - hopefully sooner rather than later... Intel i7 4790K, 16GB DDR3 1600, GIGABYTE GTX 970G1, Win 7 x64, X-55 HOTAS :bye_2:
NeilWillis Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 I can't see DCS World being downgraded to those levels of detail any time soon! However, if you are just referring to the explosion effects, I am sure we'd all welcome more realism and detail, as long as it doesn't affect performance too greatly. It looks to me like the example you gave isn't really a fair comparison as the other aspects of the graphics seem to me to be quite basic. I guess in an arcade based game explosions are more important than stuff that takes priority in DCS World such as aerodynamic effects, ballistics and advanced systems management. It does look pretty though even if the particles have a little too much emphasis.
Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Hope DCS to achieve a waaay better explosions than those sincerely mate... Take a look at my MODS here
Gr00v3r Posted November 15, 2016 Author Posted November 15, 2016 I am only referring to the explosion and particle effects, which is 100x better than what we have at the moment and this video is quite a few years old... Doubt the new explosions expected are going to be much better than this :imho: Intel i7 4790K, 16GB DDR3 1600, GIGABYTE GTX 970G1, Win 7 x64, X-55 HOTAS :bye_2:
QuiGon Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 A whole bunch of new graphics effects are already announced for DCS 2.5, so let's wait and see. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

It does look pretty though even if the particles have a little too much emphasis. It is a combat simulator... and explosions and particle effects (air and ground) are a significant part of that. Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 It is a combat simulator... and explosions and particle effects (air and ground) are a significant part of that. I totally agree with you, just the video doesnt see "that" good to me, but I understand what you mean about the particles and explosions , we definetelly need something A LOT better than what we have now. Take a look at my MODS here
NeilWillis Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 I'm not suggesting we shouldn't have better explosions and particle effects, I was just pointing out the comparison with the example was totally wide of the mark. Right now, I think there may be other more pressing priorities, but hell yes, we need the best explosions available anywhere in cyberspace right here in DCS World. There is always a fine balance between frame rates and visuals. Clearly, the video example put much higher priority into the bangs and far less into the visuals - it almost reminded me of SVGA days! Is that what we want in DCS World - SVGA style graphics and epic explosions?
indiadamjones Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) Agree, but that example seems a bit lackluster to me. Couldn't agree more. Explosions need some pyroclastic flows. I kind of like the madmax explosions myself, but I'm sure if we just survey the pilots we can see a clear winner. You have every video game ever created to choose from. ...go! ED developers are top notch, they just have to pay workers to do it, so consider that they have priorities to the current flight modules already in the queue. magnetic Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 I think DCS can make realist explosions, now multicore can do that ! They can 2D or "sprite fake explosions" for far view and near can make with classic method
