redmantab Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 I've been playing Elite Dangerous for over a year with the Dev Kit 2 and my Oculus Rift. Also played 20 other titles in VR. So, long story short, VR veteran here who is very intrigued by DCS 2.0 etc. As we all know, seated cockpit experiences are phenomenal in VR...especially when combined with a great game. I have googled ALL OVER and can't find any dcs2 Rift Reviews. Fellow pilots and VR fans....would you kindly point me to a vr review for DCS 2.0 or provide a small one of your own for my consideration? Thank you
hansangb Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 it's all over this thread you posted. In your browser: site:forums.eagle.ru rift dcs review It's phenomenal. And the first two planes that come with DCS World is free. DCS 2 with NTTR map is not, but you can get the feel of it using the free planes. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
SixthFall Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 just download 1.5. its free. Works very well on my vive. you will like it. 1 -16AGR-Bear
Insonia Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Anyway the main game is free. Give it a try , DCS 1.5,before you buy the beta 2.0 or any high level sim models. It's still a flightsim.VR is some sorts of "simulation" too.Sim + VR is a Great combo. If you love flightsim, serious knowledge about flying and aerocombat, then go for it. And actually have not many choices. But the "VR" itself. Currently it still has some issues. Performance bottle neck, UI bugs, control etc..
DerekSpeare Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 DCS is one of the best flight simulators ever to exist, if not the best military sims to have existed. The VR is simply fabulous. And it's free. What is there to decide? Oh, and it's free. redmantab Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 Thanks guys! I've been using Elite dangerous vr for some time with x52 controllers etc. . Will learning to fly these planes take me eons? Also, does 1.5 have the same graphics as the 2.0. Not worried about money, I'd rather enjoy the experience top notch.
DerekSpeare Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Download it and install it - see it for yourself! I think someone mentioned it was FREE. Mango Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 1.5 uses same graphics engine as 2.0. However, 2.0 will support new terrain which will certainly look better than the old terrain included in 1.5.
Precog Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 It's awesome. I prefer DCS to elite dangerous as a VR experience. Check out my 'real world' video series [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
redmantab Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) It's awesome. I prefer DCS to elite dangerous as a VR experience. Wow, thank you. Good to know. Taking the plunge tonight To get it running on my rift I can simply check a box in settings? Is there a setup guide somewhere around you recommend? Edited November 17, 2016 by redmantab
hansangb Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 IN the setup, there is a VR pre-set and you can customize from there. if you have a capable rig, you can go with Pixel Density of 1.5 or greater (in game settings) hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
redmantab Posted November 17, 2016 Author Posted November 17, 2016 Thank you! Would I want to also use the oculus debug tool and kranky that to 1. 5 as well?
Goblin Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 No, pixel density setting in DCS does the same as the oculus tool.
