tom1502 Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Hi all, Been using OR with my GTX970 on pretty high setting without too much of a problem. I wanted to upgrade my card while I was able to so that I could deal with future updates. So far it has been a disaster, I'm now running a 1070GTX superclocked. I'm getting really bad tearing and it can look as though there is a wall of water running over the canopy when I look around. I'm in touch with oculus support, but has anyone else has such an issue? I'm getting it in both 1.5 and 2.0 and it doesn't seem to matter what I do to the settings. Thanks, Tom Windows 10 Home - 64 Bit Intel Core i7-9770K 32GB DDR4 RAM Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti Oculus Rift S
=DECOY= Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) doesnt sound right so lets try and help. firstly can i ask what versions of dcs your running and what drivers / settings are your using. if you can print screen your gpu and dcs settings that would be cool. ps nttr is having some problems with vr at the moment on the latest release but 1.5 doesn't. tom1502 Posted November 24, 2016 Author Posted November 24, 2016 Thanks! So, I'm running both DCS 1.5 - latest version - and 2.0 - latest version. Graphics Drivers: Nvidia Version 375.86 Graphics settings: The issues are worse in 2.0 than 1.5, but present in both. So for example: In the F-86 if I look at the lines on the canopy that show dive angle and roll the wings I get a number of them showing at the same time. In the F-5 I look at the wingtip rails and rock the wings it looks like the ends of the rails are crooked and warping, along with the base of the canopy. Both look as though they have water pouring over the the canopy too... In the Gazelle I have a similar problem from the shadow of the rotor blades, it makes the control panel warp as they pass over. I did record a video of it for Oculus Support, I'll see if I can attach it too. DCS 2.0 settings Should be the same (or similar in 1.5) I've changed all of the settings to low and dropped things down, it has made no difference, which is odd. Einherjer Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 What is your framerate? When it is getting lower than 45fps , the ASW can't handle it correctly anymore and the precalculation begins to miss the target. In 2.0.4 is an problem after the update which kills the VR framerate since the update, 15fps even with new cards .
=DECOY= Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 (edited) yer nttr is not playable at the moment. for 1.5 make sure under the gpu settings you have power management to max. also some people on here were saying the latest gpu driver was causing problems so try reverting back to the previous one to see if that improves it. so i must ask . what was your performance before updating the driver, or did you start with this one Edited November 24, 2016 by =DECOY= Water cooled i9-9900K | Maximus Code XI MB | RTX3090 | 64GB | HP Reverb G2

tom1502 Posted November 24, 2016 Author Posted November 24, 2016 Ok, a number of questions, I'll do my best to answer :) Performance with the 970GTX was ok for the most part, there would be the ocassional stutter in places where there was a lot of activity, but it wasn't overly noticeable. I had Pixel Density up to 1.5 with that card but didn't notice a huge difference. FPS, I don't know as I could never get shadowplay to show up in game on VR, only if I used Track IR. With this card I have ony used this driver, maybe I can go back a couple to use the same ones as the 970. Oculus has suggested that I go back to the 970 and see how it goes, whether I still have the tearing. I was getting it in the OR Home programme, but that was down to having turned something on in the BIOS. I turned that off and all was good, except for DCS. Other VR apps have had no problem. There are no issues if I just use Track IR, frames are fine, detail is high and it's smooth as the proverbial baby's bottom! I'll try and give things a go this evening (tough at the moment, have 11 week old twins and an ill wife, so has to be late at night when they're all asleep!) Thanks for the help so far! =DECOY= Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 if you need help i can come on ts later and try and help out, but i would definitely try rolling back the GPU driver or do the hot fix. I went from a 970 to a 1080 and my FPS was greatly improved so its not the card its something else. also if you Right-CTRL + scroll lock it should bring up the in game fps counter. hansangb Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 And remember, you have two issues. Nvidia driver problem specific to Pascal units. And latest 2.x alpha version that eats FPS for breakfast. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
awjudge Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 (edited) Really bad tearing since upgraded graphics card A bit of a guess here, but do you have ASW enabled? In game try Ctrl-numpad1 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited November 24, 2016 by awjudge

tom1502 Posted November 25, 2016 Author Posted November 25, 2016 Hi all, the DCS2.0 update seems to have solved the FPS issue, but I still have the tearing. I've not been able to try the potential solutions yet though, will post when zip have. Windows 10 Home - 64 Bit Intel Core i7-9770K 32GB DDR4 RAM Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti Oculus Rift S
tom1502 Posted November 25, 2016 Author Posted November 25, 2016 Ok, problem appears fixed. 2.0 flies like a dream! Went back to the old drivers, it was smoother but still had the tearing. Pressed Lctl and NumPad1. Problem solved. Something to do with the ASW then. I think it has been enabled by OR, but now it is off in 2.0 it's great. Now I can see the benefit of the new card, settings are cranked back up and it's stunning! Thanks a lot guys, Very much appreciated! Tom Do you press Lctl and num pad 1 while in game? I'm trying to turn mine off but not having any luck ( either pressing in or out of game ).
