Kneeboard map in NTTR??

Hi,

 

I don't know where to post this, since I don't know if it´s a MIG or a NTTR problem.

 

In the MIG I have no map on the kneeboard. The mission elements (TO, landinging,...) sites are visible in the kneeboard, but the map around it says something like "texture missing".

 

How can this be fixed?

I think I have found a solution. The trick is to deactivate the MIG-21 kneeboard, and activate the non-specific NTTR kneeboard!

 

 

1. Deactivate the MIG-21 kneeboard

--> rename the KNEEBOARD folder to

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Cockpit\KNEEBOARD_old

 

 

2. Modify the device_init.lua file (located in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Cockpit)

--> add the following line(s) to the end of the file

--------------------mod_by_HP-------------------------
dofile(LockOn_Options.common_script_path.."KNEEBOARD/declare_kneeboard_device.lua")
---------------------------------------------

 

3. Copy the mig-21 kneeboard "specific" files to the general "NTTR-Kneeboard"

--> copy the neeed files from

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Cockpit\KNEEBOARD_old\indicator\CONTENT

to

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\Mods\terrains\Nevada\Kneeboard

 

 

The result is that now ALL airplanes in NTTR have the MIG-21 specific pages.

Thanks for posting this! I just started learning the MiG-21 and was encountering the same problem. Question - does the NTTR map have RSBN and PMRG stations, and would those be listed using this workaround above?

Actually, I hadn't realized that this was a quite old workaround for this bug ... I've tried it and can report that it works with version 2.5 of the MiG-21 .. however, I made a small change to HugePanic's procedure:

 

 

On step 3, copy the Mig-21 specific files not to the Map's Kneeboard, where it will affect every other aircraft that you may have, but rather copy it to:

 

 

Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Kneeboard\MiG-21bis\

 

 

this way, these pages will be seen only by the MiG-21, and irrespective of which Map you might be using.

Yes, Nevada has RSBN stations, for landing, as follows:

 

 

 

 

however, it doesnt seem to have PMRG stations for navigation, so your only recourse is to use dead reckoning.

 

 

Now I will try if this same workaround could be used for the Viggen, that has a similar problem, and will post my findings on the Viggen SubForum.
