Using TrackIR.

I have the Co-pilot and Engineer mapped with keyboard keys "2" and "3". Yet when I select either, it throws me into the center of the chopper (where the troopers sit). So I can't view the cockpit. I've zoomed in/out, normal, No Joy.

No issue with the Pilot or "1" view.

Any suggestions?

Some time ago, what You describe was a symptom of Mi-8 cockpit mods, or "pilot neck" mod becoming incompatible with newest game version. If You have any mods in Your DCS, my suggestion would be turning them off one by one and checking how the Mi-8 works.

thanks for the tip. I removed all of my DCS mods. Just trying out the vanilla 1.5.5, and wanting to do the cold start built-in mission. I still get the same issue. When selecting the Co-Pilot or Engineer, (2 or 3), it throws me into the cargo area and I can't view the cockpit. Weird.

Rgr that. Let's try something different then. Move the content of Saved Games\DCS\ from Your system partition somewhere else for a minute, let the game reset its settings and try again. If something's messed up in Your custom user settings stored there, You can keep reinstalling DCS till the end of the world and it won't change a thing.

Might be worth trying uninstalling the Mi-8 alone if all else fails.

Or possibly the rest of the crew are just trying to tell you something? Did you eat all the sweets the load master put in the back to lure in the soldiers?

I renamed "saved games\DCS" to something else, and relaunched. After jumping into Mi-8 free flight, I was able to toggle between views 1, 2, and 3 without issue.

Must be something corrupted in my saved games I presume. thanks Art-J, I'll do a little digging!

Just to close out the issue (in case someone searches with a similar problem).

My remedy:

- went into my Saved Games\DCS\Config\View sub-dir. I found a couple old files; Server.lua & SnapViews.lua and renamed them

Afterwards, I had no issue with the Cockpit views for the Engineer and Co-Pilot.

My thanks to Art-J for pointing me in this direction. And a thanks to NeilWillis for the moral support... ;)

I pointed to the folder, but didn't remember which files exactly were responsible for that. Will know for future references now!

Server.lua is a part of "proper neck" "mod". Actually it's not really a mod but rather a way for user view configuration. You must have had an quite old version of it. Note that if you've removed the Server.lua and SnapViews.lua, all of your modules will come back to default view settings - head position, angles, field of view, shoulder size, neck size, max/min zoom. Although with removed Server.lua every module will use it's own, different size of the neck, shoulders and min/max zoom, try bringing back SnapViews.lua file as there is a good chance it wasn't causing the problem. Thanks to this you'll restore back your own settings for head position, default view angle and field of view.

The "mod" is located here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=96116&page=22 - it's not updated though with the latest changes for Mi-8 gunners or Spitfire.

If you're interested I've uploaded an updated version of Server.lua supporting Mi-8 gunners (engi and nav are also working) and Spitfire.
