How to Upload 4K Videos to YouTube?

Has anyone been successful at getting a 4K upload to YouTube to actually process as 4K?

Every time I try it it only ends up as 1440p. I've watched a lot of instruction videos and read a lot but still no luck. It seems more complicated than just making a 3840x2160 30fps MP4 at a target bitrate like this says.

I'm using Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13 to make the videos and then uploading a file to YouTube.

Here are my video settings, is it possible that my bitrate is too low? I can only select 28 or 50 so I thought lower would be better for processing.

Yes, I've waited a day to see if it worked but it hasn't

Your video is 1080p/60 though

Well, YouTube uses H264 format (or whatever it is). I was unaware there was any special procedure. It should simply be a regular upload. It does take a while for all the resolutions to become available sometimes.

I have uploaded up to 1440p60 videos without issue. Once upon a time, 60fps videos were behind a paywall if I reminder right, is that the case here with 4k possibly? There are quite a few 4K vids on YouTube these days, so it can't be TOO difficult

I'll test tonight

-edit

Make sure you don't have bandwidth saving or anything like that enabled in YouTube. You can disable playback of higher resolutions (I have for example)

Post one of your vids so we can see if it's just your end, and if WE can see it.

I can see 4K resolution on YouTube myself.

It's not a question of "uploading" the video, it's getting YouTube to play it back at that resolution which has me stumped.

nope, 3440x1440

when I watch that video, I see this. Only the 1080p resolution is available. But on the other video above, I can see 4K

Well, it's marked private, so no.

Oh I thought it would be viewable if I sent the link.

Rendered this video at 4k 60fps and only allwoing 1440p not sure sadly :$

RyV5-5FmF0M

I only see 1440p as well

So there's something here. some people can see videos in 4K and others can only see certain ones.

I can see this in 4K but not the other video above

Which browser is everyone using? I'm using Microsoft Edge. Could that be the culprit?

I'll be away from my PC for the next week:cry:

So I'll check out Chrome then and see if that's it.

This could be the problem here

It takes a lot of time to convert to 4K 60fps (12hrs or so)

I uploaded a few videos already

I tried this again with Chrome and yes I can see this video and mine as 4K

So the problem is with M Edge

wow the above video is in 4k/60 too, I didn't know YouTube could do that
