1070 would give you 1440P on High settings easy if your monitor supported it. My 6gig 1060 does 1080P fast on high or 1440P moderately on high if you have a I5 or I7 with 16gigs. AMD wont fair so well.

If you can afford it, grab the 1070 and 2GB extra VRAM.

 

for DCS VRAM is king, given the GPU can handle it 1st place.

Agree with Bit on this. The 980, when I had it, was a good card but any upgrade that increases VRAM is worth it.

Definitely go with the 1060 or 1070, depending on how much you are willing to spend. These cards are a really big leap forward from the 900 series.
