iVVChewy9141VVi Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) will a i5 6600 (Non K) 3.3 and a GTX1060 6GB run DCS World 2 and addons and aircraft well Looking at making a Dedicated DCS Rig Edited January 9, 2017 by iVVChewy9141VVi
Demon_ Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Get the K version. What is resolution? Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
iVVChewy9141VVi Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 It's a mini it's rig so no k so .2 ghz won't be big and stuff right.. Am I ok with 6600 Also 1080p
BitMaster Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 DON'T Its too slow and you cant oc it but BusClock...which is..lemme say..not good. Get a faster one tbh so you do get what you expect edit' Apropos Mini....think AIO-WC as space wont allow any other proper cooling ;) Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
iVVChewy9141VVi Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 Because .2ghz will make that much of a difference and everyone wants to OC Can we get some real input here?
Pilotasso Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) Huh? At this point it becomes evident that you and reality have gone separate ways. :D The difference between stock and overclock is the same between a typewriter and a gaming machine. You should get at least 800mhz more with a K cpu. Edited January 9, 2017 by Pilotasso .
dburne Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Because .2ghz will make that much of a difference and everyone wants to OC Can we get some real input here? Go K processor and overclocking friendly MB all the way if you can. Not that hard to do, and the gains are substantial. My cpu is a stock 3.6 ghz processor, and I have been running it solid every day at 4.50ghz for three years. Never a burp. If not, yes your choice will run DCS 2.0 , certainly not as well but it will run it probably satisfactorily for you. Keep in mind before too long more is going to be added with the merge to DCS 2.5. iVVChewy9141VVi Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 I Don't overclock! NVM people I was wondering if .2ghz from 3.3 to 3.5 stock clocks will make a difference
dburne Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I Don't overclock! NVM people I was wondering if .2ghz from 3.3 to 3.5 stock clocks will make a difference There would be hardly any noticeable difference between 3.3 and 3.5 GHZ. BitMaster Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Because .2ghz will make that much of a difference and everyone wants to OC Can we get some real input here? Sorry, but that was my honest input as someone who is building game rigs for friends and relatives for longer than I want :) 200MHz..no, that wont really show, but 600-1000MHz do show a difference. Heck, it's your build, I just wanted to help and give advice before you buy and regret. iVVChewy9141VVi Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 Was not trying to be idiot just I don't want to oc. Others said a 6600 will be fine with dcs and 1060 for 1080
Demon_ Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 The i5 6600 run at 3.9Ghz on turbo mode. The i5 7600 run at 4.1Ghz on turbo mode. Get the 7600. Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
iVVChewy9141VVi Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 Windows 10 only support on Kaby Lake. Refuse to use windows 10 especially after the stupid updates ruin stuff like multi monitor and forced updates
tintifaxl Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Define "well" ;) I run DCS with a i5 4690@3.5ghz and a rather weak GPU @1440p and it works well enough for me. Your GPU is much faster than mine with triple VRAM so I expect you to get much better fps than I do. iVVChewy9141VVi Posted January 13, 2017 Author Posted January 13, 2017 Remember not everyone wants to overclock there cpu at all
iVVChewy9141VVi Posted January 23, 2017 Author Posted January 23, 2017 Decided on 6700K found the extra cash and since I wont be overclocking I went ahead and returned the other stuff to get stuff that will have better cooling
Demon_ Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) Maybe the i7 7700K (4.5GHZ) instead of the i7 6700K (4.2Ghz)? Edited January 23, 2017 by Demon_ Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
iVVChewy9141VVi Posted January 23, 2017 Author Posted January 23, 2017 Windows 7 is not supported when using Kaby Lake. Refuse to use Windows 10
BitMaster Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 When installing Skylake on Win7 you must either prepare a USB drive WITH USB3 support slipstreamed OR plain install from a SATA DVD drive and avoid the USB problem for Z170. Prepare early so you dont have an issue once the stuff is in the house and you wanna put it together. Win10 always gives me headaches when reinstalling and re-activating. It always works...but what a fuss and back and forth until it lets you reuse the "old" lic with "old" hardware. Could be way simpler. iVVChewy9141VVi Posted January 23, 2017 Author Posted January 23, 2017 Yep done also had to do that with the m.2 drivers so it will show up easier to slipstream especially since you can download the iso from Microsoft site provided you have a legit serial key which I have 3
