Hi guys, I'm trying to get some coop missions that I can fly with my bro and best friend, I was wondering if it's possible to convert some SP missions to Coop play by just editing the mission and adding 2 extra client aircraft?

Is it this simple, or do I need to add all the triggers for each aircraft, waypoints? Have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, but desperate to get some of the amazing SP missions I can see on here working so 3 of us can fly together.

If you can open the mission in the editor and make adjustments, then you can select an aircraft and do a Cntrl-C and an immediate Cntrl-V to clone a copy. Then go to the new clone and adjust anything in its profile - name, call sign, skin, loadout, etc. Be sure to follow its waypoints to get each one placed right, especially the last one if it is a Land type as it will often be slightly off of the runway. Adjust the parking spot, too - you may see the Uncontrolled dialog box come on after you manually set the parking spot for a cold start aircraft and then you know it's done. Make sure it is a Client so it can be flown.

Visit the Hollo Pointe DCS World server -- an open server with a variety of COOP & H2H missions including Combined Arms. All released missions are available for free download, modification and public hosting, from my Wrecking Crew Projects site.

It should be noted that depending on how heavily scripted the mission is, the results may vary.

If it's heavily scripted, keep in mind that any client aircraft you've added will not be included in triggers that are looking for the lead's presence in a specific location unless you specifically add them.

Look for anything checking for PART OF GROUP IN ZONE (lead aircraft group name), and change it to UNIT INSIDE ZONE (lead aircraft pilot name) if you're planning on hosting the mission on a dedicated server.

You can also add an OR condition and clone the statement to include any new airframes you've added if you want it to work no matter who's flying what, but it is a good bit of work if the mission is heavily scripted (and there's the risk of breaking stuff too.)

That said, check around the forums and you'll find some great co-op missions out there!

Here are a few of my own, all fully voiced and DCS 1.5 compatible.

An Eye for an Eye - a 12 mission 2 player co-op campaign for the F-15C

The New Soviet Republic - An ongoing multiplayer campaign that can be flown as CAS only (3-4 pilots recommended) or incorporating SEAD/CAP/transport elements. Enemy presence scales to friendly units detected at mission start. Currently there are 2 missions available to the general public.

Operation Wax Wings - CAS/CAP/Gunship multiplayer one-off mission against ISIS forces, set in Syria using Starway's Desert Mod (optional.) CAP/Gunship tasking scales to units detected at mission start, can be flown CAS only with 2 or more pilots.

If it uses Triggers and only checks for GROUP/PART OF GROUP you can theoretically just change/add clients to the group.

Just a heads up, client aircraft will not be detected in multiplayer with PART OF GROUP IN ZONE. If the mission is on a dedicated server, triggers will never work. They -will- still work for the host of a multiplayer session if you don't want to dig too deep into the Mission Editor and are confident you can stay alive. ;)

Also, if you add multiple clients to a single flight often the radio menu will break.

Best to use Crew's method and copy-paste single ship flights. Add to triggers as necessary and convert to UNIT INSIDE ZONE to ensure MP functionality. Good luck!
