Yea i know this sounds kinda noobish but my bro recently got an Xbox 360 controller for his laptop so he can play those sports games but he was wondering will it work with lock on. Of course its no contest against a HOTAS, he will just be target practice for me. So can it be done- like will the lock on options menu even recognize it. If so, what do you map for throttle and such.

Possible? yes. Practical? hell no.

Buy one of those crappy 4 button sticks, they are cheap as banannas. And any stick is better than a gamepad. Microsoft sidwinder 8 buttons are like 14€ here and they are reliable enough. My sister has one.

I get bad FPS on my standard Gameboy with water and distance on HIGH, can it be overclocked ?

No, the cooling in GB sux. It should run fine on GB Advance.

I had a logitec gamepad when i first started playing lock on. Despite the negative response you usually get it was actually quite good, comparing it to my HOTAS.

Aslong as it has an analog stick on it its not that bad. I mapped all the buttons and used the left analog for the yoke. Held it with one hand and used the mouse for looking. I missed using the mouse for a while untill i got track ir.

I been flying with your standard x52/trackIR setup for awhile now. Looking back it was almost as good if you set it up correctly. IMO the only thing gimped was no throttle. Had to use the keyboard.

Don;t get me wrong though, the hotas and track ir is deffinatly better if you get serious about flying. But i would recommend a gamepad/mouse for any novice before they go out and drop 300 bucks on a stick and track IR.
