TripRodriguez Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Hey guys. I'm building out my gazelle controls but my lack of hands on time in the commander seat leaves me with a question. I'm building a sort of replica of the camera pod aiming control stick box. The controller I have that I want to use for the commanders camera control stick is digital switch based instead of variable analog. I can do a potentiometer based stick but it will be more of a pain and not have as high end a feel to it. So do you think having analog control of the camera pod is worth extra effort? This is a dedicated mini stick that will only be used for this purpose. PS- Some are bound to wonder why. I'm trying to use what I have on hand to stretch the budget. I have a very slick feeling digital on/off type arcade cabinet stick that will fit nicely. For the analog option the proximity of the rotary, potentiometer etc. cause an issue and also I'd be using a recycled low end plastic gimbal and potentiometers. Thanks for any input, Trip [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Demo of my 6DOF Motion VR Sim:
Bearfoot Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I am by no mean all that experienced compared to some folks here, but I'll give my 2c? I've been flying the M a lot recently for practice. I use a dedicated/separate X-55 stick to control the Vivienne (flight control is a separate TMWH), so I get full analog movement. I cannot really tell the difference between that a thumb nipple on my throttle (which I've set up as a secondary control, sending ';', ',', '.', '/' key commands ... so digital movement as opposed to the X-55 analog). So, I would say ... no?
MAD-MM Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 (edited) After looking some Time around, because found anloge Buttons aswell my Joysticks Pain to get a smoth look on the Target with Viviane Sight. With upcoming BO-105 want something that work. First i try out cheap acrade gaming Controller, but it doesnt work as intended, because the mini Sticks there doesnt provide any axis controll. I come up with this in the Picture mini Stick with Hall Axis with bunch of Buttons, loved it working quiet nice work very well. (Only negative Side Gazelle have no axis zoom Function for the twist Stick on the controll Panel for the Camera.) Problem it is a Music Equipment quiet expensive around 200 Dollars found it only USA/UK. Got some last Price reduced on Amazon UK luckily. :joystick: PS Have no idear how i could it working as self made Build thats why buy it. TripRodriguez Posted March 8, 2017 Author Posted March 8, 2017 Looks like one yes and one no so far! Please keep opinions coming, I will try to test both options myself as soon as possible and post my own findings as well. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Demo of my 6DOF Motion VR Sim:
TripRodriguez Posted March 9, 2017 Author Posted March 9, 2017 I had some kind of issues with my computer the last couple days and today I couldn't even launch DCS so I had to reinstall windows. In the meantime, I found I had a half decent feeling plastic joystick gimbal that is fairly compact so I might just use analog to make sure I have no regrets later. I think I might still wait until I can do at least a quick test of the digital stick before I commit though. More opinions still welcome! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Demo of my 6DOF Motion VR Sim:
TripRodriguez Posted March 10, 2017 Author Posted March 10, 2017 Ok tested with the digital stick and found it very unsatisfactory so iĺl definitely be using the analog stick gimbal. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Demo of my 6DOF Motion VR Sim:
Los Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 I use the mouse axis left and right on theWarthog throttle nipple. It works perfectly fine, I just have the axis tuning set certain way to make it less sensitive. Los
