Guest IguanaKing Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Here are a few pics I took last week while fixing an avionics problem on this beautiful bird.
ARM505 Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Nice shots of a beautiful example of the type! I get scared just looking at the Cessna wing so close to the canopy (often had to push too many planes into too small a hangar at dawn and dusk, but I managed to never ding one! It was like a jigsaw puzzle.)
Majesco Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Nice shots! Iguanaking, do you work with F-15E ? if you can, please give me some high quality photos of the F-15E cockpit, I love it Thank in advance
RvETito Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 May I ask where is this particular plane bought from? It quiet possible to be one of the fleet of 17th Airtraining base Kamenetz, close to my home town Pleven. At least 10 L-39 and same number of L-29 have been sold to various customers in US. Now Kamenetz Airbase is closed but outside of it in small guarded area 4 L-39s could be seen, all of them are sold to an american businessman, waiting for transport to US. A.S Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 hey killir, wasnt that one of the trashcans u fly muahhauau.. :megalol: nice plane though  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Guest IguanaKing Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Majesco, Nope, I'm a civilian now. Force, I agree, the seat looks scary. Its even scarier when you're standing on it trying to find the steps on the side of the plane. This L-39's seats are hot, but they have all their pins installed before I climb in. The other thing you have to watch out for is the canopy jettison handle as you are lowering yourself into the seat. Tito, I have no idea where it came from. Is there a place on the internet you know of where the serial number could be looked up?
Skopro_PL Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 hey what airport is this at??i live in denver too, i'm guessing centennial, but then again it could ben den, or jeffco.. | 8700k @4.9 | Gigabyte Gaming 7 | 32gb Tridentz @3000 | EVGA 1080 TI SC2 | CV1 | VKB MCG PRO [sigpic]https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FeLGqKyJ3K08k3z-7XaegWgRuGRGkKUs/view?usp=sharing[/sigpic]
Guest IguanaKing Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 You guessed right, its Centennial airport. :D Here's a photo I took just before takeoff during a demo flight we were given by L3 Communications for their new IRIS FLIR system. It was the only clear picture I was able to get because I couldn't use the flash during flight, and it was WAY too bumpy that night for a good picture with the shutter speed slowed down. We made an approach to Erie airport using this system. We couldn't see a thing out the window because that airport has pilot-controlled lighting, but the IRIS made it plain as day on the monitor. The pilot keyed the radio on the control frequency and the lights came on right there in front of us. This is promising to be a great safety device for flying at night.
Rhen Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Man, if only I had about $300k for the airframe, $12k for insurance, $6k for the hangar, and about $20k for the fuel - what's that - about $340k for the first year? Not in my ball park - no matter how much I wish. ... time to fire up the old 'puter and do some flying. :pilotfly:
Guest IguanaKing Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Heh...20K for fuel would get you about 20 hours of flight. This is a pretty thirsty airplane. :D
RvETito Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 A bulgarian living in US posted this in bulgarian forum: and the front cockpit: This USN Blue Angels style and another USAF Thunderbirds painted L-39 are ex '107' and '909' from the Bulgarian Air Force fleet. Skopro_PL Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 hey IguanaKing have u got a look or seen the ATG javelin at cen yet??? im sure you have since you work there...tell me what your impressions of it are?? I have yet to see it but im curious.. | 8700k @4.9 | Gigabyte Gaming 7 | 32gb Tridentz @3000 | EVGA 1080 TI SC2 | CV1 | VKB MCG PRO [sigpic]https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FeLGqKyJ3K08k3z-7XaegWgRuGRGkKUs/view?usp=sharing[/sigpic]
Guest IguanaKing Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Have I gotten a look at the ATG Javelin? Yup, sure have...I'm the guy who did the flight instrumentation certification on it. :smilewink: They also used to have an L-39 which they used as a chase plane, but apparently it could no longer keep up with the Javelin...the Javelin is just too fast. :D I've got quite a few pics. I'm not all that impressed with its avionics, but it looks like ATG is less than thrilled with them as well. They're changing to a different manufacturer. It has been down for quite a while for re-design of the wing. I hope they also increase the size of the forward inspection panel, you practically have to dislocate one or both shoulders just to squeeze through it.
Zayets Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I thought you might like these as well. I like very much the color scheme of the L-39 in the first post. Really, really nice scheme. 1 [sIGPIC]OK[/sIGPIC]

bSr.LCsta Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 looks like the paint job is new this year. http://www1.airliners.net/open.file/1022586/M/ Heres the info.... http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNumSQL.asp?NNumbertxt=57XJ is this ok?
Guest IguanaKing Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Thanks for the links L()Csta, yep, that's the old paint job. Here's what the pit looked like back then...same aircraft. I was actually wondering if there were a serial number database that showed the history of the aircraft. I have no idea where 57XJ came from, but N441JB, ATG's L-39, came from the Iraqi Air Force...and the Iraqis had bought it from Libya.
Guest IguanaKing Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Skopro, I don't have any information on the efficiency of the engines as installed in the Javelin, but you can google the Williams FJ-33 and maybe get an idea of how quickly they burn fuel. Here's a pic of the Javelin pit. I took this during the flight instrumentation certification. Yes, the Mk-20 is supposed to have a HUD. I'm not sure at this point if the Mk-20 will be realized any time soon. The Israeli's, AFAIK, have pulled out of the program.
