Hello;

I'm hiring a server to keep a 24/7 mission running here on Americas (Mainly south america).

I've been reading lots of posts and due the constant DCS updates and changes, the requeriments information seems to be ambiguous.

My mission will be A-A and A-G, probably 32 players max.

First of all, i would like to know, what exactly i would need in therms of Hardware, they have lots of rigs to offer and i'm not sure where to fit DCS.

They asked me things like:

How much Ram?

How much vCPUs?

How much Traffic?

Does the Server Need DirectX? Wich version?

Thank you in advance.

Who cares...

Recommended system requirements: OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+; RAM: 16GB; Hard disk space: 30 GB; Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX780 / ATI R9 290 DirectX11 or better; Joystick; requires internet activation.

For a 24/7 server, I recommend 32 gigs of RAM, other things more or less the same

Hi,

For DCS 1.x and 2.x you'd need the following hw configuration:

- 32 GB RAM

- 4 vCPU cores (more cores won't improve performance)

- DirectX 11 compatible GPU w/ WDDM 1.2 compatible drivers for RemoteFX

- 3Mbps Up/Dn (latency is more important than bandwidth)

- a few GB of traffic per month

I recommend a physical server though.

Howdy I run a 24/7 DCS server

How much Ram?

for me 32G

How much vCPUs?

I use a Xeon 3.4, but it doesnt matter DCS is pretty much single thread

How much Traffic?

Few Gig a month , not too much ( I have Gig Lan in a data center)

Does the Server Need DirectX?

Just needs a Dx11 capable CPU or GPU

Good luck keeping a server running all the time,

1.5.6 has a known bug for the last 2 months causing DCS world to crash several times a day

... still waiting on a patch to fix it

Still rockin Windows 7 64bit

Well i'm a aware of this lots of crash in a day and to me happens when blows up memory size.

My Personal computer Has 32G ram and DCS manage to use it all, then game crashes (not all times). I guess we have a memory leak or something like that.

Also, i would like to know, do i will need an OFFBOARD GPU? Or just DX11 Compatible?

Because, the servers they have here in Brazil doesn't have ofboard GPUs...

Hi,

For integrated GPU you will need to share 6GB of RAM or the minimum requirement.

No u dont need to share this much ram. im running 24/7 on an integrated Intel HD 4000 without sharing anything. You want to disable 3D rendering anyway.

Sounds promissing!

Can you help me with that? Disable 3D render?

Sure.

In ../Saved Games/DCS/Config/ create a file named autoexec.cfg with the following content :

options.graphics.maxfps = 30
options.graphics.width = 1300
options.graphics.height = 750
options.graphics.render3D = false

edit says : be advised that the DX11 graphics card is still needed...

Ok, but just to understand it clearly. Does it have to be a real, physical card or emulated - like in case of VMware.

EDIT: Another question. Are there any tested providers in EU which offer configurations confirmed to be working with DCS and have a reasonable price. I think such list would be helpfull (hardware server at home is not an option for me).

Yea, i currently running on my own pc and it's doing fine, but, i use my computer lots of time on day and it might be causing some lags on server...

That's why i'm looking a game host...

And it's hard to find a compatible one...

First, i dont know about emulated cards. U need to try and test this urself.

Second, take a look at hetzner.de , german hoster. they have some kind of auction going on for older machines listed under "serverbidding". simply choose one with an integrated gpu that is dx11 compatible. dont forget to install the drivers ;)

Showstopper!

Man, DX11 is a total Showstopper. The host pricing is too high for any server that is DX11 cappable.

Come on ED, is it serious? Can't you programmers make a simple dedicated server?

So guys. Is there a way without DX11? Any workaround?

Even supprresing all video rendering it crashed on a DX10 computer...

I DID IT! Hosting in Any DX version

Easy and worked like a charm in a normal computer!

Download and run this from my drive:

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AGp0qp4RitCgg4xU

1 - click in the "Edit List" button and add "DCS.exe", not the updater, please.

2 - On "Mute Category" group, check "Application Defined" only

3 - On "Device Settings" group:

3A - Check "Force Warp"

3B - Change Feature Level Limit to 11.

Apply > Ok and now you can Host ya DCS in a 386 computer!

Just to add, i'm using that "Autoexec.cfg" too, so old computer will not have problems!

Who cares...

Nope sadly after 8+ years there is still NOT a dedicated server, its a damn shame

Also now server hosters (hosting not playing) will be expected to purchase

maps assets etc just to host a game , which no one else does

Congrats ED, you're doing very well if wanting to transform DCS into DC$, it's total shame to know that you spend money in a computer's hardware, time, energy, internet, promote live broadcast to attract players, to bring new players that will be module's potential buyers and YOU, ED, doesn't seems to care to make nothing to make our efforts worth. I'd say that 80% or plus players on sòuth america already played on my server, and at least 20/25 % learned to enjoy this simulator on my server because i was there to teach'em at least the basics.. I play this since 2011 and now i have some experience to share.To tell to plane lovers about this buggy but amazing simulator, so please, i beg, don't make our life harder.
