*Rage* Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 Repeat the benchmarks with the 1080ti! I was very sad to see Vega delayed again. Im considering a 1080ti once the great merge is complete. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
Pilotasso Posted June 2, 2017 Author Posted June 2, 2017 yes, I will run the track again for sure. Additionally rumor has it VEGA wont be as fast but a fair amount cheaper than the 1080Ti. .
Pilotasso Posted June 3, 2017 Author Posted June 3, 2017 OK guys, got the card. According to 3Dmark timespy bench, the 1080Ti is 3X the speed of my 970 GTX. Not bad. :) Ill run the DCS track now. .
*Rage* Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 Cool. The 1080ti is about twice as fast as my 980ti according to most 4k benchmarks. Note: im not sure if you ran the track with the 970 still installed in 2.1 since it seems the 2.1 update is much more demanding than 2.0. Pilotasso Posted June 3, 2017 Author Posted June 3, 2017 (edited) Sadly I sent the 970 off to my sister before I realized this. But the results are astonishing: which means the % diff would be even greater if the last 2 tests were conducted on the same version. I tested it with MSAA off to compare with my other series of tests and the change in FPS was so small with the 1080Ti that it could be attributed to the reading margin of error. But this is sobering proof that a graphics card will determine what FPS you get as long as the platform can handle it (think haswell CPU's and later) Edited June 3, 2017 by Pilotasso .
Sydy Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 Hi Pilotasso, You built an amazing RIG and you inspired me to go after a new one to me. Congratulations for your new rig and thanks for the inspiration! All the best, Sydy 1
Pilotasso Posted June 10, 2017 Author Posted June 10, 2017 System is now complete. I slapped the second RAM kit in, and it works @ 3200 Mhz without any adjustments to the BIOS necessary. .

Konovalov Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 Awesome stuff Pilotasso. Turn off those lights in the room. PC should provide adequate lighting. Pilotasso Posted June 24, 2017 Author Posted June 24, 2017 Another change: replaced the original 2 NZXT fans with 4 corsair ML 140 pro's for push pull arrangement on the radiator. The NZXT ones make a high pitch sound when on high RPM, I found the corsair ones are more bearable (they are dead quiet at 800 RPM when not stressing the system on all cores). Temps went down 5 degrees. :) .

BitMaster Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 ..you will move to external radiator at some day..I am damn sure  no need to spin the 4 x 180mm fans higher than 230rpm unless I prime for fun over many hours.
