EAC and Auto Pilot

Sometimes my EAC light on the Caution Light Panel is lit even when the switch behind my throttle in the cockpit and on my HOTAS throttle is in the ARM position yet the light still stays on, sometimes I can extinguish it by flicking the switch to off then back to ARM again and at times my Auto Pilot doesn't work and I was wondering if both are linked?

To arm EAC and get the caution lights to extinguish during a ramp start, I get the hog up and running with Nav aligned and TAD no longer has the no nav data warning caption. I then roll forward a metre or two, test the brake pressures and switch on the EGI. EAC will then extinguish and the gunsight reticle will appear on HUD.

The EAC switch is designed to spring back to OFF when the nav system isn't aligned/activated.

Thanks kindly fellas, but it's weird cause the light stays on with switches set correctly and Nav system all good. I will try that tho, thank you.

One thing I like to forget is to set EGI as NAV source in the NMSP (The navigation system selector in the lower center console). It's set to HARS per default on cold start and I believe that forces EAC to off.

Ahh of course yes, I've changed that to ILS a few times but found I have to zoom out too far to use the HSI.

ILS will not disengage EGI. Only HARS and TISL do. You cannot have autopilot without EAC.

TISL should not disengage EGI.
