DDSSTT Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Hi guys, Coming back to DCS after a long break and I just downloaded a skin for the P-51 with a great WWII era pilot skin, the only problem is when I turn the pilot on in the cockpit in first person, its the standard green suit and not the Brown / Khaki. I spent the last few hours search the forum and user files but the only thing I am finding is how to change the skin of the pilot for each liveries by change the text to false in the description.lua. But this seems to have zero effect on what I see in the first person while in the cockpit. Is there anyway to change from the default green? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/
DDSSTT Posted May 2, 2017 Author Posted May 2, 2017 So, I take it that since no one seems to know or even respond with some sort of an answer, it is not possible, thanks. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/

Harpoon Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 It's a little late. Wait until tomorrow and i'm sure you'll get some responses. they've been waiting for half a month. and to OP, i think some directories in textures/skins got switched around sometime during the 1.5 era, not sure if you've been gone that long but it could be an issue. after long thought though i think this only affected land textures. if you could link me the mod, that would be great, we can see whether it's your or the mod's issue. :) If you want to talk to anyone about anything personal, send it to their PM box. Interpersonal drama and ad hominem rebuttal are things that do not belong on a thread viewed by the public. One thing i have to point out... naming a thread.. "OK, so" is as useful as tits on a bull.
BuzzU Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Oops! I didn't notice the date on the first post. My bad. Buzz
Zimmerdylan Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 I think that in some cases with a question like this, I read it and honestly don't know how to answer it. I mean I know literally nothing about making skins, or even how to insert a livery into my files. So I don't respond because anything I would say is going to be almost counter productive to the topic. I believe that this if fairly common with many of us in the forums.

It also changed the pilot skin when you exit the aircraft (Bail-out) from the Green to the WWII Brown. But, it seems while inside the aircraft the Pilot Skin you see when you turn your pilot on (1st Person) is located in a different location. It is also split into 2 files and both are a slight higher resolution. They are located here: "\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\P-51D\Cockpit\Textures\P-51D-CPT-TEXTURES.zip" (pilot_p51_fp1, pilot_p51_fp2). I attempted to merge the WWII Brown into both of the above skins in Photoshop, but the skin turned black until I exited the aircraft. Also, changing any textures in the "P-51D-CPT-TEXTURES.zip" seems to crash the game when starting a mission. Thank you. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/

If anyone is interested, I made a first person texture to match the external pilot texture I made a while ago. Just like you said, while DCS is NOT running replace the two pilot files with the two files I have attached and it should work.pilot_p51.zip [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Adulthood is like looking both ways before you cross the street and then getting hit by an airplane."
