TOViper Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 (edited) Hey guys, what is happening on my machine? I tell you what is happening: I fly with the Viggen, fire a sidewinder missile, and boom DCS crashes. Last days with hawk_protect.dll (even if the Hawk was not part of the mission). But I de-activated the module, just to make sure I dont crash anymore while flying with my loved Viggen. Did it get better? NO! Today DCS crashes with FC3_protect.dll after firing another sidewinder from my loved Viggen. Boom, that's it. I really have enough of this, really. Sorry for being angry, but I can't stand this any longer. I have licenses, I bought them with my own money, I installed every update and I dont use any fake software. I have good hardware, and enough RAM and HDD space, my GFX is the newest brand, so what? After a few flights I can report: works for the time being. BUT: my friend joined a mp session that I hosted, and crashes when firing his sidewinder from the Viggen. :megalol: I will give him your advice via Teamspeak right now if you dont mind ... Furthermore there is no issue with ESET I think, since the whole DCS installation folder was configured as a exception from being realtime-scanned, long time before the repair. What I experienced was that during the repair process a long list of files was downloaded. I noticed this issue since I have a small bandwith ... uuaaaaa :cry: Some questions now arise, like: What happened to my installation folder, before the repair was done? Was the updater (before) not able to keep my installation folder "clean enough"? Did I make something seriously wrong while using the updater for "normal" updates? ... .. . Seen from another side ... what does in fact the FC3_protect.dll do while I am shooting at the F-15 (which was computer AI-controlled). Is it because the F-15 (in my case) is part of the FC3 module that I had installed? Would that failure (thankfully it didn't happen again) not occur if I had disabled my FC3 module, and fire missiles on a F-15 which then was part of the so-called "core mods", and not of my FC3 module? This is maybe a difficult question, but I hope it will be understood in a correct way ... I am just asking to probably understand what was going on ... BTW: I was flying the Viggen a lot during the last weeks (and a long period during last winter), and I have to state the following: "THIS IS THE *f.....g* BEST AIRCRAFT MOD I've ever flown in any computer based flight sim since 1993.", Source: TOViper, August 2017 (1993 was the year when Tornado from Digital Integration came out, my first real PC based flight simulator which - besides flying other sims - engaged me more than 20 years, I am not joking!). DCS Viggen is on the way to be the perfect replacement for the Tornado .... which in fact became a little ... hm... "tiny" on my screen, since its 320x200. :P If the still existing bugs will be removed in the near future, the Viggen will be my number one, no discussion about. Who ever had the idea to implement the Viggen to DCS ... accept my congratulations. Seen from another side ... what does in fact the FC3_protect.dll do while I am shooting at the F-15 (which was computer AI-controlled). Is it because the F-15 (in my case) is part of the FC3 module that I had installed? Would that failure (thankfully it didn't happen again) not occur if I had disabled my FC3 module, and fire missiles on a F-15 which then was part of the so-called "core mods", and not of my FC3 module? This is maybe a difficult question, but I hope it will be understood in a correct way ... I am just asking to probably understand what was going on ... BTW: I was flying the Viggen a lot during the last weeks (and a long period during last winter), and I have to state the following: "THIS IS THE *f.....g* BEST AIRCRAFT MOD I've ever flown in any computer based flight sim since 1993.", Source: TOViper, August 2017 (1993 was the year when Tornado from Digital Integration came out, my first real PC based flight simulator which - besides flying other sims - engaged me more than 20 years, I am not joking!). DCS Viggen is on the way to be the perfect replacement for the Tornado .... which in fact became a little ... hm... "tiny" on my screen, since its 320x200. :P If the still existing bugs will be removed in the near future, the Viggen will be my number one, no discussion about. Who ever had the idea to implement the Viggen to DCS ... accept my congratulations. If I would have the mail address of the development team, I would send some "Austrian stylish" greetings to say thank you guys (and to deliver "energy" for the most probably exhausting bug-fixing process). And no, I am not kissing up to somebody. :no: Glad you like it! We seem to have a lot of DCS fans here in Austria - so who knows - perhaps there will be a Heatblur get together around Graz at some point. :) With regards to why A FC3 .dll would be crashing; it may be that a function or class being used by the game or the Viggen exists in the FC3 codebase.
