Cibit Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 Can I make a suggestion. I have been playing around with this new aspect of Nvidia control panel. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=187520 I was running everything maxed out in 4k on a 40" 1080 TV, (although I will need to reduce some settings for FPS gain), go back to your 32 " monitor and try running 4K on that, it may prove to have less overheads than running on a dedicated 4k display. Just a thought and apologies if there is something ridiculous in what I suggest:) i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
rajdary Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 (edited) Hi, i have an Alienware Aurora which i have modified with my sig below. Im running at 4K with my 780Ti and it works very well in Caucasus Map, i had to erase Nevada because of space in my ssd so havnt tried it out since my other 780Ti went burst:( I am actually surprised at how well it works with one card. Yesterday i got a call from my computer shop and they informed me that my second 780Ti was within the warranty period ( i have had it for 2 years and 11months) and i will get a refund that i can spend in another product of theirs  , i was so happy with ASUS that i ordered a 1080Ti from them, the OC edition, its more or less the equivalent but i will have to pay a small difference. I wanted one anyway. But i am very surprised at how well the 780Ti deals with Caucasus in 4K, here are my settings : Textures-High Terrain Textures-High Civ. rajdary Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 (edited) No, its 70% A-10C. I have seriously spent alot of time tinkering with setups until i found this setup which doesnt kill my 780Ti. I have actullay played and finished (I know its not the most demanding) the Stone Shield Campaign in the A-10C with this setup and apart from some minor dips never even noticed stutters or anything, i can only remember dips after Cbu's make impact but very minor. The biggest impact to frames in my experience are the shadows, terrain shadows and tree shadows, they really make a difference! By the way i have completed the first 2 missions of the Piercing fury Campaign and everything has been very smooth. rajdary Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 I just remembered that another very important step is to uninstall all old graphics drivers with the DDU utility (Display Driver Uninstaller) look it up in google. 104th_Money Posted May 30, 2017 Author Posted May 30, 2017 Ok so quick update. After returning the 4k tv and going with an ASUS 32" 1440p monitor, the 1080 FE seemed like it struggled just a bit to keep up. So I bit the bullet and got an EVGA GTX 1080ti FTW3. In 1.5, the difference was minimal, slightly better frame rates. Bumped the MSAA from 8x to 16x and the fps held steady. Still get the tiniest bit of micro stuttering and if im surrounded by trees while looking sideways I see the fps drop into the low 50s briefly. Other than that its pretty smooth sailing. In 2.0.5 its a huge difference. Switched MSAA from 8x to 16x and bumped up the vis range to high and its holding 60fps with vsync on no matter what. The biggest difference is that the 1080ti is not maxing out nearly like the 1080 did. At MSAA 8x and vis range medium the 1080 was hitting 90-95% gpu usage and memory load was 95-100%. Now with MSAA 16x and vis range high GPU usage and memory load are holding steady at about 62%. Going to keep pushing up the settings little by little. Tried downloading 2.1 but it took hours only to crash before I could start a mission. Hopefully they get it sorted soon so I can take advantage of my new card!! Intel i9-13900k, Asus Z790-E Gaming Wi-fi 2 motherboard, 64gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR5-6400 RGB ram 2x32gb XMP2 profile, 4TB Crucial T700 PCIE 5.0 SSD internal, 2TB Crucial T700 PCIE 5.0 SSD internal, Asus ROG Strix OC GeForce RTX 4090, Corsair 7000X Case with 5 x 120mm side mounted intake fans and 3 x 140mm top mounted exhaust fans, 1 x 140mm rear mounted exhaust fans, front mounted Corsair H150i Elite Capellix 360mm liquid cooler w/Elite LCD with 6 x 120mm fans in 3 push, 3 pull intake configuration, 1 x 32" Samsung 3840x2160 display, 1x 32" Asus 2560x1440 display, TrackIR5 w/pro clip, Thrustmaster Warthog stick and throttle, CH Fighterstick Pro and Pebble Beach Velocity pedals.
104th_Money Posted May 30, 2017 Author Posted May 30, 2017 UPDATE: I can finally see the card starting to spike up to 90% once in a while, other than that GPU usage averages about 65-70%. Memory Load never passes 70%. Using EVGA Precision X to control the 3 fans, running them on a pretty high curve since I had to remove my intake fan to fit the card in. So far DCS 2.0.5 settings are: Textures - High Terrain Textures - High Civ. Traffic - High Water - Low Visib Range - Extreme Heat Blur - Off Shadows - Flat Only Resolution - 2560x1440 Aspect Ratio - 1.777777777778 Monitors - 1 Screen Res. of Cockpit Displays - 1024 MSAA - 16x Depth of Field - Off Lens Effect - None HDR - Off Clutter/Grass - 1500 Trees Visibility - 15910 Preload Radius - 80500 Anistropic Filtering - 16x Terrain Objects Shadows - Off Disable Aero Interface - Unchecked Vsync - Checked Full Screen - Checked. For me the $770 for the card was well worth the visual effects. The extreme visible distance and steady 60fps just makes 2.0 look awesome. And all this without even overclocking the card yet!
