pocketedition Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Learning about the viggen, in game training for navigation. Basic, I think its called. Listen carefully and only touch when and what told to. Off we go. The instructor tells me the way point will change automatically. Nope. Doesn't happen. It selects way point 1 at liftoff. If I fly over way point 1, there is no change. It stays stuck on 1. Am I missing something? Is that what the mission is supposed to do? Is the training a heatblur joke? That can't be. I just tried a mission editor setup, same thing? Directs to way point 1..........and that's it! Seems to work if selecting next way point manually but don't see the point in having to do that when its supposed to do it automatically. Any ideas?
pocketedition Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 Flying over way points (selected manually in order to navigate?) does nothing for me just now, other than direct me back to way point 1? Pass 2.....go back to 1 Select 3.....fly over it....go back to 1 Select 4.....ditto If I follow the navigation system, I'm just going around in a circle above way point 1. Ha Ha, I AM going around in circles on this one? Oh, If its broken do I get a refund?
Rudel_chw Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Dont know why it isnt working for you, but you are much better off following the videos of xxJohn rather than the in-game training ... for example, this is the best navigation tutorial that I've yet seen: 9xiRjCA2xBM For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
The_Nephilim Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Are you talking about the basic navigation training mission for the Viggen?? IF so did you follow the voice over instructions?? I just did the mission and the WP's selected Automatically? pocketedition Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 xxJohnxx Yes, I have been watching his vids, yeah they are very handy. He's good. Did I follow the voice over instructions.....Yes. I did have some lunch and tried again. Now, this time I went flat out..........(ish) Past the way points at (dunno) fast. Not on full afterburner, just under the first burner light. 6 maybe 650 on the fast meter. This, I don't know but, this time the way points did as the voice over said. They changed automatically. Was that what I did wrong maybe, was I going too slow? Not sure if it was the lunch or the faster speed, it's doing it well now. Thank you both for your quick response and positive support.

Well as long as you pass WP1 and it changes you are good. I think I had the voiceover lag a bit on some training missions.. Cibit Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 You also have to be within 1.5 Km of the waypoint before it cycles to the next so if you pass it slightly off it won't change if your out of the 1.5 km range i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
lemoen Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Did you press the reference button on the runway before you took off?
Rudel_chw Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Did you press the reference button on the runway before you took off? This is really important and often overlooked ... but you have to get the aircraft perfectly aligned with the runway centerline, before pressing the reference button. il_corleone Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 You dont really need to use the reference button always. It is automatic. It is only needed in conditions with crosswind or bad weather. Salute Rudel_chw. Here Manu from La Fundación. Good to see you

Salute Rudel_chw. Here Manu from La Fundación. Good to see you You need to do it always before you take off, when you're aligned with the runway. The Nav system needs to know ;) I thought so anyway. Maybe one day I'll actually read the manual.
JanTelefon Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 In the real Viggen, and in the DCS Viggen as it currently is, the CK-37 will perform an automatic fix on the center of the runway on take off. Hence, the reference button isn't really needed other than during some conditions. I think heavy side wind is one of them. Now, on to the original post. Is there a steady or a blinking "E" in front of the indicated waypoint instead of a "B"? If there is, the keybind for taking position fixes is probably wrong and it's stuck in fix mode. Binding it to a two stage trigger is a bit finicky without mods. I can really recommend the kebind mod made by FunkyFranky, as well as his kneeboard mod. The keybind mod should help you with your issue. The keybind mod: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=181720 The kneeboard mod: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=185454
Rudel_chw Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 You dont really need to use the reference button always. It is automatic. It is only needed in conditions with crosswind or bad weather. Thats true, the Viggen's flight computer will make an automatic fix when the plane has reached the runway's mid-point ... .. however, if your steering drifts just a little during take off it can result on a poor navigation fix; that's why I find more reliable to just carefully align with the centerline before take off and press the reference button on that moment. Salute Rudel_chw. Here Manu from La Fundación. Good to see you Glad to see you too :) ... and thanks for the friend's request ... I would never have guessed that it was you, that's why I try to use the same Nickname everywhere :D For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
