Text file edits are hardly a major chore....

For those of you who don't know how....

Just open the config file in Lockon\Config\graphics.cfg and set the aspect to 1.6 as I have in the lines below for my Dell 2407WFP

DisplayMode

{

resolution = {1920, 1200};

bpp = 32;

fullscreen = 1;

aspect = 1.6;

Interface

{

resolution = {1920, 1200};

bpp = 32;

fullscreen = 1;

aspect = 1.6;

}

Simulation

{

resolution = {1920, 1200};

bpp = 32;

fullscreen = 1;

aspect = 1.6;

}

That's fine, but I don't want to have to change it back to 1.6 everytime I go into my settings.

True, you've got me there....

yea BS should feature this, getting kinda tired of changing it if i go into the options menu. I usually change it through LoCFG, i think its the easiest/fastest way.

i don't mind the edits either, i quite like doing it that way, once...

but as we know a visit to the options menu and back to default it goes.

can you explain the way LoCFG handles the apsect ratio, from pics i have seen it handles lots of options and config settings, does it fix the aspect ratio for you before the game starts, please explain, thanks.

Like any other time, if you enter the options menu, the aspect ration reset. So instead of going deep into the lock on folder and opening the file and manually typing in the ratios, i find it a lot faster/easier to just open up loCFG, and select the ration/apply then go back into lock on

and don't forget WS doesn't work properly for Su25T due to "hardcoded" settings...so lets hope BS is different...i.e. configurable, at least via text edits etc.

Can you say in what way it doesn't work properly? Is it unplayable?

I'm thinking about getting a widescreen monitor, but before I do I need to know whether Flaming Cliffs will support it properly (I don't mind text edits as long as the aspect ratio of the image is correct and there's no artefacts like stretched instruments, etc.)

Guys,

I asked this question months ago and Chizh confirmed that BS will in fact have the 'aspect ratio resetting' bug fixed. I didn't realize that the -25T had a problem with showing 'true' widescreen', so I don't know if that'll be fixed.

But for now, as others have suggested, using LoCFG seems to be the easiest way to make sure it's set correctly.

Doug, it works perfectly apart from a few minor issues with the SU25T, the issue is that you have to edit the graphics.cfg file if you change any of the settings within the game as it reverts the setting back to 1.3333333 and gives you the stretched screen on a widescreen monitor. All you have to do is exit, change the file again (or use LoCFG as SuperKungFu mentioned) and you're back in glorious widescreen.

Don't even think twice about buying the Widescreen monitor, buy it NOW!

I've got the Dell WFP2407, and I love it to bits. Just make sure your GPU can handle the higher resolutions...

The su-25t is playable and the aspect ratio is correct, but you can't change the viewing angles, which allows you to make better use of your horizontal space.

please forgive my apparent lack of appreciation :) (time delay)

thanks for reply superkunfu, now i understand.

as it is i am reluctant to experiment with performance by editing in game settings due to the constant need to reset the aspect ratio.

it will be great when this is fixed for BS.

looking forwards to flying the heli, should bring a host of new improvements such as this one.
