Jackdaws Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Hi all, Can somebody please tell me what folders/files i need to delete from the following screen cap to ensure the new shader files etc are updated for the new dcs2? I didn't want to delete the whole thing as i want to keep my settings etc. Thanks! My Files..... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Speedbrake Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 I was having some problems with DCS 2.1 running. Got some freeze-ups and long loading times. What i did was determine that my Nvidia drivers were out of date so I updated them. And did this, to answer your question. Go into your Saved Games, DCS.openalpha folder and rename it. Start the simulation (it will create a whole new folder. Then go into the renamed folder under the "Config" folder and copy tour "input" files into the newly created DCS.openalpha "Config" folder. This will save all you inputs for aircraft set-ups. You will have to reset your main simulation settings such as textures, traffic, etc. Maybe someone else can tell you what file will keep your settings, I just reset mine.
Jackdaws Posted May 30, 2017 Author Posted May 30, 2017 Thank you speedbrake... ill give it a go! My Files..... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Chipwich Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 There is a whole lot more in there besides input. Missions, campaign progress, custom knee boards, logbook, etc. I'd be careful with that folder. Would be better to know specifics, which I do not. R7 5800X3D / 64GB / MOZA AB9 Base / TIANHANG F-16 Grip / VPC T-50CM3 Throttle / Ace Flight Pedals / RTX 4080 Super / Meta Quest 3
Speedbrake Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Yes, there are other things such as screenshots, kneeboard, possibly liveries and mission depending where you savrd or installed them to. As long as you renamed the folder and NOT deleted it, you can copy those over just like the input file. For me, I save my missions and liveries in the main program folder under the approiate file structure. I should have mentioned this at the time.
Ghostrider142 Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 I thought this worked for me, but it didn't, when I play a mission I've made (even a new small one I did tonight in Normandy) the stuttering is still really bad. I had been fooled by playing the Constant Peg mission after renaming the folder (then re-importing my inputs etc) and it ran fine, but no user made mission runs well. Good luck though. i7-4770K @3.50GHz; EVGA 1070 8GB Superclocked; 16GB Ram; MSI Z97 Gaming; two Samsung 500GB SSD's in RAID; TrackIR; 32" 2560x1440 Samsung
Buzzles Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 If you're doing this just to test shaders and such are working, don't delete anything. Just rename it. DCS will then generate a new one. You can then copy the input folders over if you want to keep your keybinds. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
