Notice quite a few problems out in the desert graphical corruptions on low visibility settings and performance dosent seem good enough considering relatively how well it runs when flying downtown. Anyone find Nevada not running as well as it could, I have a much better experience with 1.5 at the moment.

Anyone tell me something, are we to expect better optimizations and performance for DCS sometime down the line (the big merge), or do you think as it is now is pretty much as good as its going to get?

Be warned though! Other people have reported the OPPOSITE: i.e., WORSE performance. So many variables, from hardware to software settings ....

Well dont sweat it, I was planning to avoid 2.05 until it was fixed anyway so if its still terrible I will avoid it as well and just stick to 1.5.

Wolf, my suggestion would be to try it, and then if you find it is worse than before, then use the DCS_Updater.exe utility to roll back to an earlier version that worked better for you.

For me, I've always struggled to get better FPS in 2.* and typically fly in 1.*.

Good luck!

Looking good so far guys, its too early to say really but its at least no worse than before and I think better though havent tested out in the countryside where it was having problems before. Downtown very nice and smoothe. I refuse to look at fps counters though so I aint got any conclusive data, I think they just drive people nuts so I just go by how it performs in my own personal opinion! So far got high hopes certainly not bad performance at least downtown!

Nah there are a number of problems, first flight was conducted in semi darkness.

Even with digital vibrance on full the color looks terrible, flashing and changing

loading times are too long

They cant have paid any attention to VR as the recommended VR settings one can choose, (with deffred shading on etc) are utterly abysmal and waaaaay too bright,

Perfomance seems OK but the color at the moment is off putting, though even with digital vibrance its never been good at midday

I hear we are getting a gamma slider so thats good but things like this do move very slowly so who know when that will land!

There hasn't been an announcement of a gamma slider as far as I can recall.

However, as the latest update bought huge changes in the graphics engine, the way you see things will not be optimum, and I fully anticipate that being resolved today.

As for performance in general, have you guys with issues bothered to read, and act upon the various threads associated with the Normandy map?

1. rename your saved games folder, to get the shaders updated.

2. Control anti aliasing and MSAA via your GPU control panel and turn them off in-game.

3. Reduce the size of, or eliminate your windows swap files.

4. Under windows 10, switch off game mode via the control panel.

5. If you are still getting low frame rates, try using flat shadows.

With those steps, you should see significant improvements in performance.

Where is the saved games file located cant seem to find it!

Do you have a link with some more in depth instuctions (swap files) for some of those steps?

Thanks!

I use no shadows is that not better than even flat shadows?

Yes it should be.

You need to become well familiar with these files and their locations, very helpful. Also where your current joystick settings are saved as well, in the Input folder. Screen shots, any backed up stick profile settings, etc.

Typically in C:// Users < your user name for windows> Saved Games.

In the Saved Games folder, you should have one folder for each version of DCS you have. Be careful here to work with the files for the appropriate version you want.

Note: You can rebuild the shaders by just renaming the metashaders folder to like metashaders.old, and then upon launch of DCS World Open Alpha it will rebuild it. First start whilst it rebuilds takes longer, but after that should be back to normal.

Hope this helps,

Don B

Another thing if you dont mind what exactly does MSSA go under in the nvidia control panel or nvidia inspector, whats the exact term I should look for?

If you are talking VR setting AA in Nvidia control panel as I understand won't do anything...

However to answer your question, I am not totally sure - maybe setting AA to a value and selecting multisampling? Perhaps others may clarify better...

Right well I'll keep my eyes open for that then. Performance does seem better after deleting the saved game files, but color is still not quite right, in some ways better, but the textures of the mountains look very hazy and unimpressive compared to before. Things look a bit too brown as well and im still seeing those silvery lines in places. Promising and bodes well overall though! Performance in the mission that was out in the countryside seems no better or worse than it was to be honest but downtown vegas seems very fluid. Rather strange maybe just that particular mission I made has a bug or something the game really doesnt like.
