JHzlwd Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 It would be difficult to over-estimate the effort and talent that has gone into this offering. I've been doing some trials for a couple of days (although have had the Spitfire ever since it came out) and here are some impressions. 1 - The Spitfire simulation is starting to look quite refined. I have only one quibble so far which is lack of a roll axis trim. For some reason, with this simulation only, there is a left roll bias that can't be removed with the profiler. It's annoying. 2 - There are obviously many things still to come but as this is an "Alpha" release of the map, to be expected. Lots of things still missing in the Mission Editor, for example. 3 - Still adjusting options to get a decent frame rate. In Black Shark 2 the action is silky smooth on my gaming PC. With Normandy I have had to bump down to 1920 X 1200 plus degrade quite a few other options. It has improved but still "stuttery", especially at low altitude where more detail has to be rendered. The developers did wonders with frame rate on BS2 over time so am optimistic. 4 - Something odd about the color on this terrain - not the same level of realism you get with Caucasus. Speedbrake Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 (edited) Item 4: Have you tried using a different gamma setting? It is a new addition (slider) in the setup area? I find using 1.7 works fine for me. The default was set to 2.2. You can actively change it while in the simulation by using escape going to settings (or was it system??) making the change and then resuming the simulation. Edited June 27, 2017 by Speedbrake

Good suggestion. I hadn't thought of that. Over-all it is just too bright and synthetic looking. As with frame-rate, I expect the developers will be making improvements.
