What smoke is on the tail of the planes when they go to 8000m ?

All planes have smoke on their tail when they reach the altitude of 8000m and then disappear at 12000m

They are particles of crystalized water vapor that condense around the aircraft's exaust at high altitude. Basically man-made clouds.

That's the "con layer", Majesco. In LOMAC, its fixed. IRL, its variable depending on local atmospheric conditions. They are basically man-made clouds. The exhaust from a jet engine basically just provides a few extra condensation nucleii for water vapor in the atmosphere. :)

And in real life combat conditions you'd stay well out the con layer as it acts like a great big pointer saying 'Look at me. I'm up here'.
