CheckGear Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 I don't know if this has been discussed anywhere else in this forum, but I'm eagerly hoping and anticipating a fully-operation flight deck, totally authentic operations, LSO assistance, a working meatball, and the works! The sim with the most detailed carrier ops was a Super Hornet sim, Digital Integration's F/A-18E Super Hornet from 1998. In addition to fully simulating taxi, take-off, and landings, they also had a fully-operational deck crew, which was totally innovative back in 1998. I'm hoping DCS can achieve that same level of detail with this module. Even GraphSims' long-running F/A-18 Hornet series had fairly detailed carrier ops.
probad Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 (edited) please consider the fact that on release the fa-18 will not have the majority of its systems available, then consider whether it would be prudent to be discussing resource allocation towards elaborate carrier mechanics at this point in time. taking a look at recent developments you'll notice that while ed has multiple projects going on in parallel, the actual finishing and release is done on a sequential basis, so beyond the most fundamental mechanic changes required to accommodate the fa-18 (aka no longer using scripted traps) more elaborate carrier mechanics will in all likelihood be deferred to carrier module proper. Thanks. DCS modules are always expanding, which is a good thing, because, unlike old-school flight sims, you have limitless potential. I do look forward to having totally authentic carrier ops one day!

Did they state "not the majority of systems will be available" or "not all systems will be available". I think it's rather the second Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Weasel Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Very good questions. However I am sure ED provides us with more information about the carrier operations when the right time comes
