So I don't know where to put this, but some help would be appreciated.

I've ran into a bug wherein any aircraft's altimeter will not climb past a certain altitude. Usually 25,700 ft, I thought this mightve been a static port blockage, but upon trying to use alternate static on the A-10C to no avail, I tried with the F-15, MiG 21, F-5, etc. The F2 view shows correct altitude, and that I am climbing when in a climb attitude.

However, this doesn't effect just the altimeter, but Aircraft performance. When in the F-15 at 30,000 ft prior to the most recent update, I could get up to Mach 2+ but now, I cant even get Mach 1.5. at 25,000ft with no fuel tanks.

This happens on Multiplayer, and Singleplayer. Maybe its a bug with the ceilings or temperature, or what. So, if that could get looked into, and responded, I'd be appreciative. Again, as I don't know where this belongs, If a mod or someone of that rank could move this to wherever it belongs, Thank you in advance.

I may have same. B-52 does not climb above about 10,000 ft, except intermittently. I have been testing a scenario I designed, sometimes it works as it should, other times not.

Not sure why or how to fix.

I just ran into the same problem, in both 1.5.7.9 and 2.1.1 today.

In 1.57 it happened in the F-15 at 32k feet. It stayed there for a few thousand feet, until I reached around 35k, then it started working again. I was in burner, and, I think I was just about sub Mach 2.

Not sure, but I think that mission had a 5c temp.

In 2.1.1 (Mirage free flight in instant action), I went zooming. Was cruising along at 43k, full burner, clean config, and when reaching Mach 1.8, I started zooming. At 72k altimeter froze again. Engine stalled a short while after, was doing like Mach 1.4 at that point, so didnt see at what alt it would come back again. Didnt see what the temp etc was.

Just went into 1.5.7.9 (public) to reproduce.

Loaded F15 Instant Action Intercept, dumped my bags and missiles, put on the burner, turned around and went climbing. At 71.140 feet the altimeter froze again. Kept climbing, after a while it resumed. Didnt jump alt though?

Then I put the nose down and it froze at 71.140 feet again. Then it jumped to around 60K after a while.

Attached track.

Just reviewed the track - never done that, and dont do that in VR. Oh man :D

Anyway, I noticed in the track that it jumps from 60'ish K feet to 71K feet, on the way up. Didnt notice that initially.

Continued. Same 1.57 mission as in post #3, this time in the Mirage.

Altimeter stopped at 31.840 feet, while I continued climbing with about 20 degrees. Eventually it started it again, didnt jump, just resumed.

Then remembered the Mirage INS had an option to show alt, and HUD/Alt vs INS were now 4300 feet apart. Sry for the low quality VR shot, but HUD (and altimeter) shows 34.700 while INS shows 39.032 feet.

The only thing that would make sense is if you didn't have pitot heat on...but even if that were true and it was off and you never flipped it on the temperature doesnt invert enough for it to unblock from icing.

Pitot is on, and it happens in F-15 too, as mentioned further up.

Havent tried other planes yet, but I will. Id be surprised if they didnt show the same.

Ill also try with colder air, and there Id expect the 'freeze' to happen sooner.

Just noticed this on the F-5E, altimeter stopped at about 31 800ft, started ticking over again at around 36 000ft flying on 1.57

The Instant action free flights etc, depending on temperatures, require much higher altitude. Like if you take the F-15 Intercept Instant Action, you need to be up at 71k feet. Reason Im getting it at 32k'ish, is colder ambient. Im using 5c in that particular mission.

If I run the Mirage Instant Action Free flight, which is 22c, I cant even get up high enough to reach the 'freeze' zone. Did notice a difference between altimeter, and INS altitude, of 3000 feet, when I was up at some 58.000 feet. Dont know if that is normal?

Anyway, fly in cold air, then it should be easy to reproduce. F-15, SU-27, Mirage are the 3 planes I have tried. Happens in all of them, and in both 1.57 and 2.11. And Rowan reports it happening in the F-5E. So its quite general Id say.

Only 'mods' I have installed are control.lua's, for 2-3 way switches. Both 1.57 and 2.11

Very easy to reproduce for me.

Just went into 1.57 Mission Editor, January, -15 degree Celsius, Mig-29S, start altitude 15.000 feet, and I zoomed up. Altimeter froze at 7120 meters (23.400 feet).

Confirmed.

This is a bug and should be reported.

Thanks for testing it.
